guitar center today...

Unread post by saleen » Wed Jul 30, 2003 11:22 pm

well I started with some zeppelin on the 12 string (the reason I went to GC), which was awesome as usual. Then I saw the clapton sig martin acoustic on the wall that he plays on unplugged and the dvd I have....uhhhh AWEFUCKINGSOMEx10!!!!, I played some classic clapton acousit tunes plus some other soft stuff.... that guitar is great for soft acoustic tunes.

Then I played a taylor nylon string with the same type of music and some upbeat fingerpicking (i.e. classical gas) and it was awesome as well, if I ever buy a nylon string guitar I think it will be a taylor (if I can afford it).

Then I headed out of the acoustic section where I played a les paul studio which was fun but then I saw one of my dream guitars on the wall, the clapton sig strat with the new pickups (not the lace sensors that I have on my strat but a newer more technologicaly advanced version). It was my first time ever playing this guitar and I played it through a marshall 60watter. AWEFUCKINGSOMEx1,000,000........ I came up with the framework for a new song and such........ the tone this thing produced just knocked me off my feet.

Now for the best part of my 2 hour experience.......... some random dude who was wearing workboots and pants with paint all over them and everything sits down next to me and says I was sounding good and plugs into the amp next to me. We jam for a little bit and this guy is OUTRAGEOUS, playing not only fast but making it look easy and sounding good and going with the song (not just fast to be impressive). He was fret tapping while talking to me and looking at me........... I almost shat my pants at how amazing this guy was.......... definately makes me remember how much more I have to learn.

Sorry for the long post but I needed to tell somebody who might care (my dad could care less if I met EC himself)

nah, not surprising to me. grew up around blues guitarists so i know the ugliest worst dressed guys are always the fastest guitarists. you say, ok first you play an A minor, and they say huh? and you say ok put your fingers here, and they say, oh yea i know that chord, watch this...the next thing you know you're drooling on yourself and you decide you just wanna put your guitar down and watch.
