I just played an Alvarez at the guitar place and I think I'm SOLD!! man, what a nice guitar. It has the looks, the SOUND, and plays beautifully. It kicked all the other guitars at the store in the balls. of course they didn't have any Martins, Taylors......etc. but man, I didn't expect it to be that great when I picked it up. I opened the door of the acoustic guitar room, walked in and saw it and walked over and picked it up and started playing it. couldn't put the thing down. Anyone else like these things? or now anything avout them? or have one? I never really thought about them. until now.

a have two of em (a six and a twelve...), and they are amazing, myself and many others i know say that alvarez's play much better than guitars that cost twice as much (cough*cough* martin cough*). i am very happy with both of my guitars. i have had my six for about two years now, and i have to say, its been through a lot (dings, scratches, and even dropping :shock:

), and it still plays beautifully. it has super low action and it rarely comes out of tune... the twelve i actually just got yesterday

, but so far it is the perfect sibling for my other alvarez, and it only cost 600! (the six cost about 550)

I mean, for a scalloped braced, solid engleman spruce top w/ solid rosewood back, inlays and whatnot, the Alvarez is like under 700. The one I played is a Korean made PD100S for a price tag of $679. not bad at all. nice balanced tone, especially with the elixirs it had on it (although I prefer D'Addarios) the dude there said he can do it for $599. Should I get it????????????????? I want a case with it too though. how do you do deals :wink:

?? any suggestions. damn I'm a newbie when it comes to buyin' guitars

sounds like a good deal though, seeing as though I paid $349 for my first guitar - Art & Lutherie. The Alvarez would be a nice jump up in class. so once again, any suggestions.

i have an alvarez that i like a lot, but i might have to sell it to get the Taylor... its worth it

I have always heard grea tthings about Alvarez guitars. I have even recommened them in a few threads for people that don't want to drop a ton of cash on a guitar.

All in all you should buy what you love. I know its cliche now but it's the truth.

I don't want to drop a ton of cash on a guitar but I want a nice guitar. I'm going tuesday to get this one. If I don't I'll regret it because I really do love it. some day I'll have a high end Martin or WHATEVER but for now this will do juuuuuuuuuuuuuust fine. did I tell ya I was desperate for a guitar? well I am because the piece of shit I have now is starting to bother me.

yeah man..sometimes you gotta just bite the bullet and buy one otherwise you will just keep putting it off and you will be stuck with your POS one....i did for 7 years...

trust me, after you get an alvarez and see how reliable they are... you'll probably forget about a martin (alvarez's play much easier than martins)

I was surprised at how easy it was to play. after playing it for about 20 minutes I picked up a seagull and started playing it and I noticed a big difference. the seagull neck is fatter and the fretboard not as fast. I can't wait to have this thing

pretty inlays on it too. I'm impressed by it. my main concern is how it'll hold up over time, but if what you say is true, fatjack, I shouldn't be worried. even if it is a Korean made model. does that make a difference in the price of them? I dunno.

As a beginning guitarist I had no idea what kind of "starter" guitar to buy, the guy at the music store recommended an Alvarez RD10 (witch is a low end model) that I paid $125 for.

It seems to be a decent guitar, I rarely have to tune it and any sour notes that come out of it seem to be the fault of the "musician" and not the instrument.

When I can play a little bit better I plan on purchasing a nicer guitar, and would definitely consider another Alvarez.
