Hey all - Here's a cover of Trippin' Billies I did:

Billies

I kinda do my own thing on the verse rhythm but I think it sounds cool. Lemme know what you think!

Thanks epdmb00. I'm going to start recording vocals as a separate track as they sound kind of distant when recording them while playing as I can't position my mic to get the vocals to come through without sacrificing the guitar's sound (which I think I've got about as good as I'm gonna get it considering my setup).

Any other comments?

nice job Roast, I agree the vocals were a little shaky, but I can hear a really good vocal in their somewhere......I like the deepness of your voice and when you can control it better, or record it clearer, it will be awesome. The guitar work was good....sounded like billies to me. Great job.

I liked it! The guitar was very good and though the vocals wasn't perfect it still sounds like you've got a good voice. I think billies is hard to play and sing along to at the same time...harder than stone and recently I think. Good job!

Well, I went ahead and re-recorded this as two tracks. That's a lot trickier than I though it would be. Anyway, here it is:

There are some timing problems, but hey, this was my first attempt at doing this using multiple tracks and the headphones I'm using basically suck. Anyways, I'd like to get comments on:

1 - Vocals - how are they now that they are a little more "up front"?
2 - How's the mix? i.e. are the vocals to guitar volume levels okay? There's only some slight reverb applied to the tracks. Let me know if it sounds okay.
3 - Any other comments on the guitar work are welcome.

Thanks!

Guitar sounded like Billies, the voice seems strained and over pronounced, like you are really trying hard to pronounce each word, and not singing along with the music(all from a listeners standpoint...and as you know, I am far from good at singing). I still hear a good deep voice that has a lot of potential. Great job. The levels sounded good to me, but i had the volume down and I'm at work.
