Tim Reynolds

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Well Bela is a great banjo player, but as far as banjo players are concerened, Jens Kruger has them all beat. Jens writes and plays so melodicly its hypnotizing. His playing isn't all twangy, it is smooth and mellow. He is also the fastest banjo picker and the best that I have ever heard. He is in the Kruger Brothers band, out of switzerland. 3 guys, banjo, bass, and guitar. They play bluegrass but you know how broad bluegrass can be. They are also a riot to see live. I've seen them probably 10 times in 3 years, and have seen Bela for years and years at merlefest. Check them out, Kruger Brothers.

Bela's style is just amazingly...good. I haven't heard any one that I like more. His classical pieces especially.

By far probably the best improv. acoustic guitar player I've heard is monte montgomery. Don't be fooled by this man, he's the real deal. I thought he played like country or something until i listened to his live stuff. He is completely nuts live. If you can, download his cover version of "Sultans of Swing", it will blow your mind what he does in this song. I wish i could see a video of him live, solo, with his acoustic. The guy is straight up nuts with his guitar. Peace out.

Could someone please tell me how we went from Ethan's 1st post to here? Am I missing something? A clear explanation would be appreciated because I have been accused by some people as being a little dense :?

Sure. Ethan's post was entitled "Tim Reynolds" and was comprised entirely of "The Missing Piece". Without anything more, I think it can be assumed that he means that he feels that Tim is the missing piece of DMB. Some people took issue with that, saying that others were more suited to complementing the band as a whole, rather than just Dave solo (where I think most would agree Tim takes the cake?).

Concerning Sojourn of Arjuna: the reason this jam is so amazing is not solely bela's badassness, its how well he and coffin/carter can play off each other. its a shame tim always sits back when he plays with bela...im sure they could do some stuff that is just as breathtaking.

Does anyone have a clip when Tim and Bela did duelling banjos? It was on DMBAlmanac somewhere...

Not to put down Timmy or anything, but the reason I want to see a D+B tour is that we could see what they are really capable of together. Just a change of pace. I'm sure it would be just as good as D+T.
