Dave and breaking strings...

I have an mp3 of Jane with Dave breaking a string during a d&t show.

After they go into the second verse, Dave actualy says, "hold on, hold on now here, I can't go on like this." You can then hear tim trying to fill space with some effects while dave laghs and you can hear someone getting a new guitar ready. The way it happens with him stopping the shos is pretty funny, but you have to hear it to see what I am talking about.

yes, i was at those shows, and i was AMAZED at how many strings he broke, it seemed kinda rediculous. i dont care, its kinda cool to see him change guitars mid song. but really, maybe he should use higher gauges

I have an mp3 of him and Tim playing Crush and his guitar just kind of slips out of tune, or was already out of tune and he didn't notice it, cause about 4 seconds into it Dave just stops and goes, "What the fuck was that?" in a funny ass tone.
The best part was he didn't go back and play crush till about 5 songs later.

At utah on 9-8-04, he broke his G string 5 times I counted.

in LA this summer he broke like 3 strings during the course of the show. haha.

i have this version of granny (D&T) where he starts and you can HEAR him break a string. he stops. pauses and goes like "that scared the shit out of me! and i almost shit myself." or seomthing. its hilarious. then he's like "yea i'll come back to that later, i'm getting bad vibes from that one. hahaha.

His bow doesn't really matter though... It still plays fine...

If you watch the gorge special i think it is, there's a strech in it where there is a close up of dave and boyd jamming and boyd's violin is *torn* up and dave has a broken string on his guitar, but they were still wailing away.

Ive never seen him break a string live, Ive seen him change his guitar out midsong because it was out of tune.

I dont know about anyone here, but ive never broken a string while playing. I have while trying to go to a different tuning but thats about it.

luckily i've only broken strings while playing on my 12 string so i can finish the song without much problem, they usually break on songs like watchtower or halloween.
