If you listen to the studio version, it should sound the same. One thing i've noticed is when i play LIOG with the Red Rocks version, it seems like Dave's sounds different, maybe because of his guitar, or maybe its tuned up or something. But on CRASH it should sound the same as the tab on this site. I don't know how experienced you are at playing guitar, you said that you just started learning this song, so as far as i know, you could be jsut stating off. This may sound a bit obvious, and IN NO WAY is it meant as a bashing, but if your new at playing, just make sure your guitar is tuned right.

I'm gonna have to say that the tabs for LIOG sounds dead on all the versions I have heard. You might be hearing Tim (and his imaginary third hand) play some amzing fills......Just a thought, I could be wrong. And i have the same question as shane: which part doesn't sound correct to you? :)
Yes, I am Indian and I play the guitar. Believe It.

the aprt that doesnt sound right is right after the double mute when you play 0-2-4-2-4 if that makes sense, with most songs even when i play it slowly i can tell that im doing it right but for osme reason this just doesnt sound like its supposed to

the tab is right. maybe try downloading an acoustic verion, so you can hear the guitar better. but it is pretty clear on the ablum. are you sure you read the tab correctly? anyway you'll get it eventually.
good, and you?

i'm still a little unclear of the part you are talking about. but i think your talking about right after the mutes. if you don't do the mutes right, it may throw off the sound. here's how i do them. i don't think that it is 2 mutes, but actually 3. one is just really fast. do a really quick up strum for the first mute, down strum for the second, and then for the third, do an up strum, but only the E B and G strings, after hitting those strings, hit the open D (on actually the same stroke as you used for the up stroke mute). this may be akward at first, but if you listen really really carfully to the crash version, you can hear three mutes, but really fast. this will make the sound much more full, try it. i hope that helps, if not, sorry.

Hey this might help you make it sound better. I play it a little different than the tabs. when you play the second fret on the G string hit open on d at the same time. and try throwing the hamer on before that. I also dont know if dave play it this way but i like to end with a full G chord. I like the sound of it its more full. I dont know its just how i play it.

E:--x-------------------------------3
B:--x-------------------------------3
G:--x-----------------2------------0
D:--x--0--2---h4---0--4---------0
A:--x-------------------------------2-
E:--x------------------------3-----3--

Not to confus the original poster, but has anyone tried doing three mutes instead of the two, then skipping the open D????

Code: Select all

E:--x--------------------------
B:--x--------------------------
G:--x-----------2--------4--4--
D:--x-----2--4-----4-----2--2--
A:--x--------------------------
E:--x-----------------3--------
      4 1 1 4 1 4 2
Does anyone know what I'm talking about. That mute is supposed to be hit just twice, but sometimes ill hit it 3 times and skip the open d like it has been altered above. I hope that posted right, never used the code thingy before.
