What Guitar is Dave Playing?

Unread post by Twostep420 » Sat Mar 27, 2004 11:55 pm

Hey everyone,
I just downloaded a video of Dave playing Spoon acoustically on a Much Music special from 98. I looked at the gear section and don't see any guitars that look like it. I am very curious as to which guitar it is. It is a cutaway, but I can't make out what the name is on the head stock. It might be a Larrivee. I don't have a way of posting the video, but if anyone has seen it and can help out, I'd appreciate it.

Peace,
Alex

He has an old high quality Yamaha (as Yamahas were back then til they cut corners and turned to crap). He uses it in the in store promotion video for R2T, in the Satelite video, and in the Stay video. It's a jumbo guitar, sunburst finish, and I have seen some pictures of it having flowers on the back of the soundboard, I think that it was his Yamaha.
Yes, I am in a box

the one ranting is talking about is his country jumbo, and NOT a cutaway

i just watched the video, but i couldnt make out the name.
its an acoustic cutaway, that is the typical natural beige color.
The name of the guitar is written lengthwise on the headstoc. so when dave is playing it, you can read it perfectly, but like i said, it was too blurry to make out. the name does look like its written in like a cursive font. hope this helps

Actually, the guitar he is playing is a Lakewood. There is a picture of dave playing it in the Step into the Light book. Dave has a standard Lakewood, and then this particular Lakewood with a cutaway.

I don't think so
Forget about the reasons and the treasons we are seeking
Forget about the notion that our emotions can be swept away, kept at bay
Forget about being guilty, we are innocent instead
For soon we will all find our lives swept away

Maybe, maybe.
Did Dave use his Lakewood for the '97 D&T tour?
