!!UBER-FAST Downloads with the Antsmarching.org Downloader!!

Unread post by GuitarGuy610 » Sat Jan 03, 2004 9:50 pm

holy cow! I decided to try the antsmarching.org downloader to compare vs. the bit torrent downloads on sharignthegroove.org and I'm getting upwards of 112 kb/sec on this! Everyone should check it out!

timing is everything. I was downloading in the middle of the night during a study break and I was getting 1200+K/sec which is probably the cap on my 10Mbit connection. Wish they upgraded to 100T but can't complain. The site seems to be very fast for old shows, and once 2003 is up, I will try to see how those go, but probably slower with greater demand.

The 2003 server is fairly slow (or at least has been the last few times I've used it). They recently (a few months ago) completely reworked the 1990-2002 server, and I believe 3 linux boxes are clustered share the connection load, so it's been going pretty fast lately. However, when it comes to new shows, it's slow as hell, and BT usually isn't.

BT doesn't drag behind , its all a question about how many people keep their windows open

very true. I meant it in that sense, not that it is a slow program. I have got huge download speeds at times, and then ones that crawl like no other... supernova.org has a lot of good speed ones though, including some stuff from sharingthegroove on there, though the files don't usually seem to be freeware :?

You have an E too much in the link above but yes i know what you mean , and no that is not the intention with it either , sharing the groove is strictly for free shows , 100% legal , its more than you can say about other place hehe , but anyways i know what you mean , and yes it does suck when you wanna download something and it drags along at 1kb/s , thats why you wanna get things like the DMB shows right when they get posted , the speeds are great when they are just posted , probably because the first few people to get them keep their windows open even after download to share with others , while others just close their windows ....

I have been getting around 300K all evening on the 12-22-03 show. Is this cause the server was down so less people using it? or is it fairly typical? no complaints here.

Off of AM? The 2003 SHN Server is back up?!?!? [Mad rush to slow down vannausj's download speed.]

I usually get ~400KB off of the AM 1990-2002 server, and ~200K for BT. I'm not complaining.
