Cheap methods to record practice sessions

What are some methods everyone uses to record, trial versions of multi track software etc...

cool edit is free, so unless you find a program that will actually pay you to record, that'd be the cheapest

pro tools has a free version available on their website, if you wanna use something other than cool edit-

solid hook up! Now I'm not limited to time constraints of the computer. One thing that sucks is being stuck in front of the computer to record, any solutions?

stand far away and sing loud? i'm usually stuck in my chair when i do it, but sometimes i put the mic on the edge of the deck and move back inmy room more

Keep in mind that Pro Tools won't work on NT based systems , i just checked because i wanted to check out this program , bummers :(

i use my video camera...let's me zoom in and stuff when i need to catch a riff i played or something..

My suggestion (and no, I'm not being a smart ass) is buy a boom box and a radio shack mic. I mean, if you want to tape practice sessions, it's a quick and easy way to do so.
