Bit Torrent Help
Seems like a lot of people are strating to dl BT's lately and most of them are having problems getting things to work properly. I know we already have a thread about this but most of the info/links are expired so I decided to make this thread.
First off, dl Bittornado (link below) if you get a green light while downloading, the torrent is working properly. If youre getting a yellow for an extended period of time, youre probably firewalled. Try running the firewall tester down below, it will tell you if youre configured right or not. If youre not, you need to work on things.
First, go into bittornados options and set the range from 6881 to 6889. Next go into your routers options (see portforwarding link for info) and set it up so that it allows incoming connections from ports 6881-6889 and check the appropriate boxes etc. To know youre ip address, go to start, run, and type in cmd. A dos prompt will open and then you have to type in: ipconfig Remember that number because youll have to enter the last few digits when setting up your router. You might also want to disable your windows firewall if youre still not getting a green light.

I think I briefly covered everything you need. Im sure not everyone understood all that so if youre still having problems, feel free to ask questions and everyone will try to help you.

i think i can't do this stuff cuz im sure here at college they have routers and proxys and firewalls up the ass and I sure as hell dont have access to change any of that.
Sux really now i can only listen to like several songs that someone was generous enough to convert on mp3 and give over in the dmb forums for the D+T at vegoose

I'm in the same boat...just keep an eye on this forum for B&P offers, and you can get new stuff that way.Grachi wrote:i think i can't do this stuff cuz im sure here at college they have routers and proxys and firewalls up the ass and I sure as hell dont have access to change any of that.

All a green light means is that you are connected to enough people to fully get the show....at least that what I can recall. It has nothing to do with your speeds.Funkiest Monk wrote:i have a question,
i'm getting a green light but the download is extremely slow any reason? maybe some setting set wrong or something?
If you are experiencing slow speeds, check to make sure you have the appropriate ports open in your firewall....that is usually the problem.
Check the Port Forwarding link in the 1st post in this thread.

No, if the light is green, your ports are forwarded and everything is working correctly. It doesnt mean that you are connected to enough people or anything like that. Odds are youre either dl'ing a new torrent, and there is only 1 or a few seeders and many leachers, which is causing everyone to get a slow dl. Once a few more people finish and many more people are seeding, the speeds will pick up, just keep waiting, you cant make it go faster right now because everything is working properly.taylordb wrote:All a green light means is that you are connected to enough people to fully get the show....at least that what I can recall.
