Question about torrent availability...

How long is it customary to seed? A week or two?

This depends a lot on where you are seeding. If you are the first seed on a torrent, most people say that you should seed for at least 24 hours or until 5 people become seeds. If you are jumping onto a torrent most people say to seed at least until your ratio of downloaded to uploaded is 1:1. It changes from tracker to tracker, but my answer, and probably the best one is: as long as you can.
