No..I've had the least trouble with Maxell. I believe you are thinking of Memorex.

What program are you using. Also what are you trying to do...burn a downloaded show, or copy an existing DVD?

i've tried like 4 different programs.. roxio is what i'm supposed to be using (came with the burner?) but i've tried winAVI, nero, dvd decryptor..

i'm trying to burn downloaded dmb shows to dvd so i can get them off of my harddrive/so i can watch them on tv (with a regular dvd player/ps2)...

when you open the folder the show is in.. you'll have like disc 1... open the disc 1 folder... but then there are like 20 VOB iso vup whatever files in there... what do i pull to the burner? arrgh frustration. :?

Basically, those files all need to be in a folder titled "VIDEO_TS". Then , make a second folder titled "AUDIO_TS".....that folder should have nothing in it. Then, burn both folders to a dvd as a data disk. It should work then.

Let me know if it works.

i had problems before. Try WindDVD creator. and dont go for cheap DVDs they might not work on your DVD players. Cheap Dvds is only good for data.

I just downloaded my first DVD the other day and I'm trying to get it to work. By work I mean play. I don't have a burner, I just want to watch it off my hard drive. I can't seem to get the whole thing to come up. Is this a common problem or do I need to give more specifics? Thanks guys.

burning

Ok GSRLessard14... This is kind of a spin off of what taylordb said... Go into Nero.. Select DVD from the list box. Then select DVD-Video.

On the right hand of the screen highlight and drag all of the .VOB files into the VIDEO_TS file on the left hand side of the screen. And yes the AUDIO_TS file should stay empty.. Now hit burn.

I have never tried it taylordb's way with burning it as data. Maybe we are doing the same thing?!?

I've burned probably 100 DVD's from videos using this method.. Good luck.

Brent

Edited to add:

Unable to read disk.. hmm.. Check the compatability of your stand alone dvd player with the DVDRs you are using... check this out at http://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers

Also http://www.videohelp.com has a lot of good stuff like tuturials and FAQs for dvd burning.

That was bum information...burn as a data disk only for archiving.
