new here and got some questions.

Unread post by pyoo323 » Sun Dec 19, 2004 8:12 pm

hey all

i'm new here, i spent many-a-hour browsing the tabs and learning the songs, but today i accidently pressed boards and stumbled upon this great new world. i read around for a while and just found out about the whole b/p thing. I'm completely psyched now that something like this even exists. I've been looking for some dave matthews DVDS forever, and i found this new world where I can get my hands on the DVds.

I just have a few questions now. I read around and noticed there are different DVD formats etc. I plan on going and getting some blank dvds to get started, but I don't know what format will work w/ my computer and my DVD player. how can I find out? I have a toshiba DVD player w/ my TV, and i just know my computer plays DVDS. Is there a way I can find out? Thanks.

Also, since I don't have a dvd burner to burn dvds and trade, I'm obviously at a disadvatnage. I'll have to and buy a dvd burner to get started then, can anyone recommend any?

Thanks.

pyoo323,
Welcome!!!
To find out what format your dvd player (or computer dvd drive) uses, you can:
1. Go to the literature that came with the player, or
2. check out http://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers.php ... me&hits=25
you can search for your player there and find out.

You certainly do not need to have a burner and trade in order to get these dvd's. Like Mikey said, just keep an eye out on this forum (do it on a regualr basis) and you will find many kind people offering up B&P's. Take advantage of as many as you can...thats what the offers are for. You will find that you can build up a nice collection in no time.

My only bit of advice is this: If you sign up for a B&P, mail in your package as quickly as possible once you recieve the instruction email from the person offering the B&P. The most common compliant I hear from people that offer up B&P's (an frankly, the reason why most people STOP offering them) is that the people that sign up do not ever mail their stuff out. I do a fair amount of B&P offers and it is fairly consistant that only about 60% of the people that sign up ever send their stuff in....as sad as that seems.

So, again, welcome to DMBTabs. Enjoy everything this site has to offer!!

You can sign up for this contest that I'm offering: http://www.dmbtabs.com/boards/viewtopic.php?t=18214

If you win, all you have to do is tell me the format of the dvd you want burned and your address and I will send it out to the winner. It is a freebie.

usually just a rule of thumb, between 70-80% of all DVD players will play DVD-R, but only a few will play DVD+R

According to videohelp.com, 93% of players tested support DVD-R and 89% of players tested support DVD+R
