D+T in 2003 - Respect the Music
I know there's already a thread going about the long anticipated Dave and Tim 2003 acoustic tour but I feel that this topic needed to be in a thread all by itself.
Depending on how long you've been a fan or how familiar you are with past Dave and Tim shows, everyone needs to know about how rude the fans had become up and throughout the last tour in 1999. Perhaps this could be why they waited four years before touring again.
Not sure what I'm talking about? Listen to any D&T taped show especially from 1999 and you'll hear exactly what I mean. It's almost sickening to hear fans shouting and carrying on in the middle of songs. This isn't a band tour...it's not a show...it's a performance. Everyone needs to do their best to just sit back and enjoy the music! Don't ruin the experience for someone who's sitting next to you.
I'm probably preaching to the already saved here because it seems we all share a great respect and admiration for the music this duo can perform. But I urge everyone to spread the word (other message boards, etc.) on this! Even if you're at a show and you have to ask someone to simmer down - you have the right!
Let's all pool together and make these shows as amazing as we're anticpating!
Peace,
Kevin

I know this applies especially to D+T tours (though I've never seen one in person), but I think it should apply to most concerts (at least the kind of music I listen to).
After all, I didn't pay $50 to hear the bombed-out 27-year-old next to me sing BOWA, did I?
But, yes. "Respect the music" is an excellent way to put it.

I've only ever been to full band concerts, and it just bums me out because it's hard to hear the music. This last show I went to in PA back in April, we were in the first row on the upper deck, and we thought it would be nice of us to sit down so that people behind us could see what was going on, that's common courtesy, right? Well the whole show we had these girls (obivously drunk) screaming and yelling at us to get up, and I mean, it felt like she was screaming directly into my ear, it was seriously the loudest thing I'd ever heard. All it does is distract me from what I paid for, watching and listening to Dave.
So that's why I'm pumped about this tour, the Dave & Tim shows usually keep out the general public, and the people that are there are there to see and hear some amazing music. I know there will be some people that feel the need to scream out obsceneties while they're playing, but that's why I'm bringing a pillow case full of door knobs. Hopefully I can go see them at West Point, cuz those boys know how to behave themselves.

NOT FOR LONG TICO!
Soon I'll be back on the mainland, or as I like to call it, "Real America."
You see, I haven't enjoyed my time here in Hawaii, or as I like to call it, "America Lite."
I too was seduced by the notion that Hawaii would be a sweet ass place to live, but it's really not. I can't speak for all the islands in the chain, but Oahu (the one with Honolulu and Pearl Harbor) is not that great, there's about 1.2 million of us packed into the island that's only 30 miles across. The tourist part is quite nice, but the place where people live.... well it's not so nice. Hawaii has one of the worst public education school systems and the government seems to be hopelessly ineffective. Plus the girls are not hot. I repeat: THE GIRLS ARE NOT HOT. Sure, there are some nice ones up on North Shore watching the surfers, but that's too far to drive to be ignored by hot chicks. Not to mention the fact that Dave never, EVER comes here.
Regardless, I'll be back with you "Real Americans" in about a week or so, I need to get my wisdom teeth pulled, recooperate for a few days, and then I'll be touching down back in the good ol' Land of Mary. (Maryland)
