Ok, Here's the scenario:
You know a girl at work. (You don't necessarily want to date her right now, though it is a possibility later on down the road.) She listens primarily to hip hop, R&b and rap. You have currently introduced her to Howie Day, Matt Nathanson, Jason Mraz and John Mayer and she likes it all....a lot. So now you want to introduce her to Dave Matthews, that of which she has never really sat down and purposely listened to. Yourself, being the fine guitarist or jam band enthusiast that you are, can appreciate the the live jamming and feel of the live shows, but know, that someone so new to the music could be quickly turned off at first to the long drawn out jazzy, guitar, violin, sax and drum solos of some bootlegged recordings. So what you decide to do is only utilizing only officially released studio or live Dave Matthews Band, Solo Dave and Tim or just Dave album releases, you will make a compilation CD that is 80 minutes long or less for her. What songs will you use?
EDIT: Lillywhite Sessions do count.

So what album versions of those songs? It has to be the best versions of the officially released songs.

I say you just give her Crash. The album. If she doesnt like that album, she wont like dmb. Easier than making a compilation, and better flow. I had the same problem for a friend, but couldnt narrow the compilation down to only one cd. I just gave her crash, and she was stoked.

i had the same problem with a friend last week. i gave him UTTAD and he loved it. i figured that that album is just a great show of DMB. but the next day i gave him crash and BTCS. so yea.....i'd say crash or UTTAD if you don't want a compilation....but compilation wise go with speeny's list.

by the way.... BTCS is the best DMB album in my opinion but i wouldnt have a beginning DMB fan listen to that to get them into it... too emotional and complex- after thinking about it i would say UTTAD is your best bet... if youre gonna give them a live taste of DMB give them Listener Supported, no question

I'd have to agree with the lot of you, definitely just give her Crash....like someone said before, if she doesn't like that album she won't like DMB.

What do you only wanna date girls that listen to DMB? ha, ha, get her hooked on DMB and then date her.
I personally would start her off listening to the album versions of songs. Don't introduce her to the live stuff yet. Then once she listens to the album stuff and likes it she will love the live stuff.
