Friday, at the United Center, was my first show. And I gotta say it did suck. It was awesome just being there, but the energy was low and it almost seemed like they didn't wanna be there. Actually, it seemed like half the crowd didn't wanna be there. Plus, only 16 songs total. That seemed really short.

because every single show I've seen by dmb and by a lot of other bands lately was way better than that, never have I sat down at a dmb show...it was not a good performance at all. while it had slighly more energy then fridays show, it just felt like they were going through the motions still...

that attitude is why DMB keeps getting lazier and lazier.

that attitude seriously just baffles me. Why would anyone want to go to a bad show???

I just hate paying $50 to see him "not care" typically in businesses when people stop caring, they get reamed out or fired...and honestly, it seems like the last couple years, he just hasn't cared...2001 was weak, summer 2002 was pretty good but still pretty similar sets and this tour is shaping up to be utterly and completely awful...ever since he changed to Taylors he's just gone down the tubes...he skipped out on the chet and the pajama pants and now things have just gotten boring...

edit...last part is mildly facetious however the point holds true...

 mildly. I don't even know what that word means and its funny. Anyway, I don't know what to say - what can be expected of this band nowadays. Someone once used the analogy of a baseball player - in that he has his great games when he hits 4 for 4 with 2 homeruns, and he has his bad days when he goes 0 for 4 with 2 strikeouts, and there's all those in between games where he hits 2 for 4 with a couple of singles. A band simply can't be at their best for every god damn show they do. They care about their fans, but as hard as it is to believe sometimes, they're only human. I believe that they're doing there best and I hate all this negative shit about how terrible these shows have been and how bad this song is and that crap. Say something fuckin' positive for a change - a shred of something. This is not just directed at you Elliot, for you're not the only one that's been let down by this tour so far. and I see your point that you pay $50 and go through the traffic hassle shit to get to and from the show, to see a possibly less than mediocre show. It's a chance that everyone must take for every show. How much were Bob Dylan tickets last year? or Stones tickets? the shows probably weren't that good. As a matter of fact my sister went to a Bob Dylan show and she said it was very short, that Dylan didn't say a word the whole show, he just ran on - did the set - and ran off and that was it. ok, I'm ranting but I just wanna say what I feel - and that, although some would argue, that a true fan would not be so disappointed about a performance of their favorite band. This review of a concert says it all:

it could have been me and my friend, but we agreed that 12-14-02's show was one of the best times of our lives, not knocking anyone else, just finding them hard to relate to.
