JIMI THING

Unread post by olkskoolpik » Wed Aug 27, 2003 1:24 pm

Whats up fellas, i was working on Jimi Thing today trying to sing and play at the same time, which i find difficult with this song especially. And while I was studying the lyrics I got confused. Usually, I can study Daves lyrics and figure out what message he is trying to send, or at least what the song is about, but Jimi Thing has me perplexed, any ideas???????

I've always related a jimi thing to a marijuana cigarette, but I could be wrong.

nope, a jimi thing is a condom and thats not what the song is even about

the opening riff reminded him of jimi hendrix, or somthin, so he named the song jimi thing

^^^^^^^^he says somthing like that somewhere, i think on storytellers

but the song seems to be about a 'marijuana cigarette' to me, so i dunno

i think it's kind of like tripping billies (only a tad bit more definatative) in that it's just a fun song with no deep meaning.
maybe. i dunno.

Yeah I'm with that. Jimmy thing always struck me as a kinda "blow your mind/waste your time/do whatever the fuck you want" kinda song.

It's definately about Weed... just listen to it.. The title might be about Jimi Hendrix.. But I think the song is surely about Weed.

He is quoted as saying it is one of his two hippy songs, the other being Rhyme and Reason. Jimi is about the good effects of drugs, R&R is about the bad.
Forget about the reasons and the treasons we are seeking
Forget about the notion that our emotions can be swept away, kept at bay
Forget about being guilty, we are innocent instead
For soon we will all find our lives swept away

I really shouldn't say that drugs have good effects, but jimi thing is pretty much about getting high and letting the good times roll.

That's a bit of an overstatement, but I certainly don't think legalization (or decriminalization, at the least) would hurt anything.

it sure wouldn't, nicotine cigarettes are sold everywhere, and they kill a lot more people than weed does

I wish they could invent a less dangerous cigarette... I love smoking... it's just the whole "imminent death" thing that comes along with it I'm not too crazy about. ;)
