Frustrated w/ this JM/DM shit! any1 with me

i was juust on the mayer boads and i think its gay that there always compariong them. i mean yes dave insipiured john and my have dave style in him. but we all know that john doesnt have as much experoece as dave. and thats y i think people have differnt views on this. and dave is just sick on guitar and mayer is good. and lyrically john can not be held up on any platue with dave, in my opion dave is better. but non the less john is good i like him and has a crap band behind him... but dave ios awosme at guitar and has the best band behind... he cant compare to dave(not yet at least) or ever for that matter... dont flame me im wasnt tryin to start a DMB vs. JM... so pleas edont yell at me for it.. i just wnat to know all of everybodys opinoion on thsi situation? thanx

the irony is within 10(or maybe just 1) posts this will become a Dave vs. John thread. I think John is an incredible guitar player, maybe even better than dave (oh I'm sinnin' now). Lyrically Dave is on a whole different level from John. That's my opinion and i'm stickin to it. On another note, John Mayer is just "John Mayer" on tour, whereas Dave is "Dave Matthews Band". Dave is in a band, John has a backup band.

Haha it's alright man. Have you heard everything Mayer has to offer. Check out something like Neon. It might change your mind on John's guitar playing ability.

o ive heard alot of mayer i love neon i think its increbibly awsome.. ive heard alot of mayer but what im sayin is i think the experoience has alot to do with people opinon while john maybe really really talented and dont get me wrong dave is to.. but the expericence in most cases is what it all boiles down to. u get what im talkin aboiut

Well I see where you're coming from, but a quick example before i leave, Derek Trucks. He's currently in the Allman Brothers Band, but is at least 15 years younger than any other memeber. But he's still just as good. Sure he doesn't have as much experience, but he is still just as good. Like I said I see where you're coming from though. Gotta run, seein Steely Dan tonight. Later.

Mayer smokes Dave on guitar...Dave doesn't hold a candle to Mayer.

Mayer's lyrics flow better and are very good, subject matter may be young but there's no reason to actually knock the songs he puts together.

Dela kills Stefan on bass...always finds a killer groove to ride.

Michael Chaves is a great guitarist that does a heck of a lot better job in filling out the sound than hacks like Boyd who devestate songs singlehandedly.

Carter owns anyone, no one is arguing this.

Both of their voices are pretty bad when it really comes down to it.



I don't see the argument here...I've come to two conclusions about these two guys though.

John Mayer is overrated right now, but he still has a chance to really prove something as he simply has more talent than just about anyone that's really in the spotlight today, he just has to get out there and do it though.

Dave Matthews is washed up...he's been musically washed up since the early days when he wrote the UTTAD/Crash songs and lyrically washed up since BTCS. Never though was he as great as many people make him out to be. Bad? Absolutely not, but slightly more or less, he is just another guy writing songs...really not a great and really overrated. That's the bottom line. He may mean a lot to you, but in terms of the rest of the musical world, that is exactly where it stands.

So you're speaking for the whole musical world?? Do you know every musician?
How can you even say Dave's voice is pretty bad? I mean really, listen to yourself.

It seems like you believe that everything you say should be written in stone.

Dave is a wonderful singer! I do admit that John's voice starts to grate on me after awhile with its breathiness, but I would never get tired of Dave's. I mean sure it's not polished and pop star quality, but that's why it is so good!
