This tune is one of Dave's favorite early recordings.
This song has had a pile of intros and outros: The "Some People Do, Some People Don't" introduction is the one which appears on Live at Red Rocks and interpolates part of John Denver's "Sunshine on My Shoulders." Other introductions include Martha Reeves' "Dancing in the Street," The Beatles' "Drive My Car" and "Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown)," and The Drifters' "On Broadway."
Outros include two DMB originals: "Pretty, Pretty Girl" and the "Water/Wine Jam," the latter of which is believed to have been lyrically incorporated into "Pig." The band has also played "Take Me to the River" by Al Green and "Tennessee" by Arrested Development as outros.
This tune was the first ever single for the band and a shortened version can be found on Recently as well as one of the singles for "Ants Marching."
