Captain

Unread post by GreedyLittlePig » Sun Nov 24, 2002 10:16 am

I really like the new Captain about 1000 times better than the old depressing one. I like the old one, but this one is so much better. It's got a Bond kind of feel...really sexy and suave. Also, I'm pretty sure he doesn't play it on an electric...it's that old wierd Dave studio sound where they give his guitar an almost electric sound. I read something a long time ago about the hookups that he uses and the way they wire the amps and all that. I can't remember exactly, but he plays on an acoustic that gives a harder electric sound. You know, professional musician stuff.

damn, if it sounds like an electric, than to me, it's in an electric. I'd take the LWS version over the BS version anyday. But that's just me.
good, and you?

The BS version is cool, as I do like the lounge feel they've got going on.

However, I do like the depressing version off LWS better. Don't know why. :)

I think its meant to be a sad song and trying to make it rather happy like they did on BS was a slap in the face to the true meaning of the song, thats why i lke the old one better.

He uses a Line6 POD to create that electric-like sound. Kinda like the sound on Busted Stuff from LWS. I LOOOOOOVE that sound. But the POD costs $250. I was hoping to find something emulate that for much less money. I don't know if it's possible.

on BS they turned captain into a love song and it isn't that at all!!!! it's always been a self-discovery type of song...that masacred it on BS...however, I like that version, it's got a cool feel and it is cool, but dang, the LWS version is just about as good as DMB gets, period.

I think the LWS version of Captain is way better than the BS version. The BS intro sounds too much like porn music to me. But the best is the many Dave and Tim versions.

That is true, but I personaly like the band better, Dave gets more into his songs, especially Seek Up 7-30-01. GREAT version.
