DMB Greatest Hits Live

Unread post by goalten106 » Wed Jul 23, 2003 1:41 pm

hey all,

i was wondering if you could help me out here. i was thinking of putting together a "greatest hits" of live DMB tunes, and i was hoping to get some input from you all. i would like one version of each DMB song on the CD.

so, for example, what do you think is the best live version of "tripping billies"? "ants marching"? etc. etc.

i think it will be interesting to hear everyones input...

peace
Nate

i haven't heard it, but apparently there is an amazing version of Two Step where they are playing during a thunderstorm...

Stay or Leave 3/29/03. I've yet to have found a better recording. I also found a really good recording of Gravedigger he did for the WBCN webcast show a while ago. Back in the good old days when Captain was Crazy, I found a really good D&T recording of crazy from 2/6/97. Theres a decent take of ASTB from 7/24/98.

There are better versions, just the story behind it is very cool.
This all goes back to opinion but, ants on folsom is one of my favorites. for two step i really like ls, cant beat that butch solo. liog from red rocks is out of this world (chicago is awesome too). Thats all i can really think of right now. edit: Watchtower/WWys from '99 ( d and t) both with Popper...stunning. watchtower folsom...butch.

Obviously #41 from L@LC. Does that count, being only D&T?

Red Rocks and L@LC are allowed? I thought it was just remote live takes. Definitely get Warehouse/L@LC, Recently/L@RR, Granny/Listener Supported, and Bartender-->DDTW/Storytellers.

I agree. The Crash, RTT, and L@RR versions are a tad too fast and "violiny." You cant even hear the guitar.

Watchtower at woodstock...though i have the video and that might be why i love it so much (dave's funky dancing)...hmm yes, stay or leave at 3/29, ants at folsom i agree, what about rhyme and reason and jimi thing from listener supported. WHAT ABOUT THE STONE PEOPLE?? i haven't heard many live versians of this besides the listener supported, its good but i'd bet theres better.

ah god Recently 1/29/93 (I believe that's the date, if not a show very close to it) was orgasmic, also there is a really good two step from the same show with salsa jam
