Whats goin on in the 2011 Break?
Will they be making a new album? New songs? Or just taking a break? Who knows?

I've loved the band for far too long to believe that they'll never do anything worthwhile ever again. Dave solo, the band, anything.
Edit: That sounds confusing to me. What I mean to say is, I don't think I'll ever lose hope. Yeah, they're a shadow of what they once were, but still . . .

I think there are plenty of bands/artists who've had a stretch of shitty album releases and rebounded from it. I don't think it's entirely out of the realm of possibility for the DLB to do the same.SimsUK wrote:You really don't think they jumped the shark ages ago?

I guess I'm feeling softer and softer on Dave's songwriting abilities. This is anathema around here, but I listened to Some Devil the other day and wasn't impressed anymore.
This bubblegum bullshit makes me cringe.

I love you oh so well
Like a kid loves candy and fresh snow
I love you oh so well
Enough to fill up heaven, overflow, and fill hell
Love you oh so well

2011 break is a break from formal touring. There will be shows throughout the year; some DMB, some just D&T, and probably some just Dave. There are already solid rumors of a 5 city mini-tour setup. There will be chances to see them throughout the year, just not your normal DMB touring year. There are no new albums in the works currently.
On a site note - although BW was not at the same level as BTCS or UTTD, it was still a solid album compared to Stand Up or even BS. When you are as blessed as DMB to have so many good songs on your first 4 albums, it's impossible to live up to the expectations you set. They are still one of the best touring bands of all time and I personally cannot wait to see them in concert again.

Davestock.2011 is our 20th anniversary as a band and we want to celebrate by playing music together. While we are still taking the year off from touring, we have decided to plan four multi-day multi-artist music events that will take place this summer. We will be sending out save the date emails and announcing more information soon, but we wanted to share the news with our fans first.
