Meeting the band in Noblesville

Unread post by theniz31 » Thu Nov 06, 2008 11:33 am

I have been to Deer Creek for years now.
And usually head up for the sound check, and was wondering where the guys go between the sound check and the show...
Didnt know if anyone knew if there was a possibility of meeting ANY of them.
Or when the buses get there in the afternoon and where the buses park?
ANYTHING is appreciated.
Thanks
-Fletch

I don't think there's any definitive answer to that question. The band probably doesn't have some "set in stone" routine between sound check and the show, my guess is they just go back and lay out a setlist or take a piss or something, whatever they need to do before they get ready for the show. I've heard about various things some of them do to prep themselves, but I don't know whether they're truth or speculation.

As for the buses, there's usually either a special parking place for the buses backstage, or a section of the parking lot will be closed off for the buses specifically. Based on my own experience, your chances of meeting them that way are pretty small, although people probably have gotten lucky. The closest I've come to meeting Dave was at the European tour in Oxford, England. I live in Montreal and flew over there to see a D&T show and my girlfriend grew up in Oxford and knew some one that worked at the New Theatre (where they played), so I was outside the back door when Dave went in but there was so many people I only really got to see walk by. Disappointing...

Best chances of meeting the band at a big show is just to get the VIP/backstage passes. I've been to 21 shows now and no luck for me, but I've met plenty of people who have gotten to meet them. Good luck.

That would insinuate they didn't put their hearts into the last record and it there was a time limit to release it, no?

Other than the band putting out blurbs about how hard they're working there really isn't any info. It looks like it'll get done when it's done.

Yeah, caught wind of that on Dave's Twitter, which seems REALLY bizarre at times...
Have a gut feeling that he may be getting paid to Twitter though...
