Why I got into DMB in the first place...
So I don't post much these days...I can't tell you the last time that I posted anything on this site. But, tonight, I just wanted to write about an experience that I had. I went to a funeral today...no one I was terribly close to, but a death that affected me regardless. I went out to dinner with my wife tonight, came home, and watched a few episodes of "24" since we're still trying to catch up on the last season. Anyway, she got tired and fell asleep, and that is when I started channel surfing.
So I didn't even know I had a channel called Palladia, but I noticed that there was a High-Def DMB concert on this channel from the Piedmont in 2007. I've seen better shows, and I've heard better music, but this was an absolutely incredible experience for me. Watching the chemistry of the band, watching the crowd's reaction, and seeing LeRoi really got me thinking...this band has had a tremendous influence on my life and I don't know if I'd be where I am today without their influence. I woke up my wife (who is a fan) to watch it with me. Again, I know it isn't the best show ever recorded or even the best I've ever seen, but it is a great look at a huge part of my life. That's all I've got...hope you all are having a great night!

I think a lot of us here know exactly what you are talking about. I love this bands sound more then anything and they could sing mary had a little lamb and still make it awesome in my opinion. Now i don't love everything they do, but I still listen to them regularly after several years now and I will still be listening for years to come and going to their shows for as long as they still do them. Maybe they aren't the same band from the 90s, but it doesn't matter they are still DMB to me.PhillyPhil wrote:So I don't post much these days...I can't tell you the last time that I posted anything on this site. Listened to a live two step recording in 1996 - that was enough!
Gervais on Rosa Parks "she was arrested but then that law was changed- but she didnt stop there, she started sitting in the seats saved for disabled people. unbelavable, she talked to the driver when the bus was in motion- did she have the correct change ready? - did she bollox!"

why not? it doesn't have to be as monumental as the statement could sound. for example, dmb/dave changed my life because they are the reason i started to play guitar, and have been playing for 5 years now. i would say that would be a change in my life.

Same here. Not only that, but I go to DMB shows every year, which is something I had never done before. And their music lead me to this community which in turn lead me to tons and tons of other great music. They and their music definitely changed my life.Grachi wrote:why not? it doesn't have to be as monumental as the statement could sound. for example, dmb/dave changed my life because they are the reason i started to play guitar, and have been playing for 5 years now. i would say that would be a change in my life.
