Don't Burn the Pig?

Why do so many call this song by this name? I see it everywhere, Nancies, etc. Isn't it just "Pig?" Is it just a name that has stuck for this song?
I can't believe that we would lie in our graves wondering if we had spent our living days well, and I can't believe that we would lie in our graves dreaming of things that we might have been...

it was originally called don't burn the pig, back in '95 or so. but it was much different. VERY slow and had different lyrics "don't burn the pig / throw him in the water / see if he sink or float..."

i'd say that the song now is just called "pig" but since the road crew puts it on setlists as "dont burn the pig", and they probably know the real name, i dont know....since the band brought Pig back into rotation on 4/4/02, dave has said "don't burn the pig" instead of "don't burn the day", so that might have something to do with it....

although the crew could be messing around, like they did with Big Eyed Fish in 2001...

back in 2001, on the real time setlist, the crew put up a different name for Big Eyed Fish every night for a few weeks. I think it was making fun of the obsessed fans who were so excited to hear it live for the first time.

a few of them were:

Fish Man Monkey
Fish Monkey Man
Fish Monkey
Man Bird Fish Monkey
Street Fish
A Little Fishy
Fishman and the Drunk Monkey
Roi's Bent Fish

Yeh I've gotten a show before where one of the song's was called Fish Monkey Man, I was like "woah". So yeh, that's my story. :D
