New Wrigley Details Emerge Affecting The Summer Tour
Sunday, February 4, 2007
New information from the meeting minutes of a local neighborhood association in Chicago suggests that Dave Matthews Band will not play Wrigley Field in July because Dave Matthews' and his wife Ashley are expecting a baby.
According to their website, the Lake View Citizens' Council (LVCC) is a non-profit organization serving the Lakeview community on the north side of Chicago, Illinois.
The association's region includes Wrigley Field and on February 1st they had a meeting discussing the use of the park as a concert venue for Dave Matthews Band shows on July 6th and July 7th.
Previously, it had been printed in the Chicago Tribune that DMB was to play during the July 9th-11th All Star break. Notes from the 2/1/07 LVCC meeting minutes shows that not only were Wrigley shows never confirmed but that the band can not commit to the dates because Dave Matthews wife is having a baby in July.
The exact text from the council minutes are as follows:
Possible concerts at Wrigley Field – July 6 and July 7th – Mike Lufrano alerted everyone Dave Matthew’s wife is having a baby in July and cannot commit to perform on the dates we had in July.
The rest of the notes about Wrigley concern alternate performers (The Police) and logistical and financial concerns about holding regular concerts in the Lakeview community:
The Cubs explored alternate performers but then heard “The Police” is considering doing a reunion tour. This is a much older demographic and they are apparently interested in the same dates – Thursday July 5th and Friday, July 6th.
David reported the Executive Committee has been working very closely with the Cubs to determine the framework under which the Cubs could have concerts over the next 5 years. Neither side wants to have to negotiate the details every year...
You can download the complete February first minutes from the LVCC's website.
Dave married Jenifer Ashley Harper in August of 2000. They have two other children are twin girls Stella and Grace. They turned 5 in August this past year.
What this means as far as the 2007 Dave Matthews Band Summer tour dates and is up in the air. It looks like the band is expecting more than just an new Album in July 2007.
Dave Matthews Band usually announces on their official website when one of the band members is celebrating a birth. We're assuming LVCC isn't pulling one over on us, and issue a big congratulations from WDS to both Dave and Ashley.
