A Little Album News (Rashawn's Blog)
From his MySpace:
It's been a while since I've blogged, But I've been going through a lot lately. It's been a really emotional and stressful time for me. I'm not saying that I haven't had ANY good times at all, but it's been crazy.
It was a crazy end of the year. It strated out great. My mom came up to visit and caught the end of the tour in C'ville, and we hung out for another 2 weeks after that. Then came the stones and bridge school run at the end of october. It was great. Then I got calls in the middle of that run alerting me of my grandfather's condition saying that he wasn't doing very well and I had to make a decision weather to put him on life support or not. So of course I said no life support. So 2 days later, just before I left the hotel to do the last bridge school show, I got a call saying that my grandfather passed.
I'm the only family he had in nyc, and I took care of him. So after the show I had to fly home and Jump right into making arrangments. Had to fly my mom back up to nyc to help me out. I'd never had to deal with death 1st-hand before, so my mom was a huge support system for me. I'm Glad that's all over with though.
After that, It was time to hit the studio to work on the dmb album. I'm REALLY excited about it. It's gonna be a great album. We had tons of fun recording together. Can't wait to get back in and finish up the horn parts.
Then I decided to move out of nyc. I'm just sick of it!!! Tired of the hustle and bustle of nyc. Great city, but I just can't live here anymore. Everything frustrates my here. There's never any parking and the cost of living is sooooooooooo high. I'm ready for some suburb living and nice weather!!! I just need more for the money I'm shelling out.
So the added stress of moving, coupled with tying up loose ends for my grandfather, followed by more news of sickness and death in the family and just the everyday dealings with life, love and loss have been really stressful, But that's life, right?
Had a great time hanging out with my buddies, OAR at Madison Square Garden a few nights ago. They killed it. Be on the look out for that DVD soon.
I'm looking forward to new beginnings in a new place. Hope all you guys have been doing well.

I only have on concern and his name is Mark.
Other then that dmb has a really great way of making good music. I honestly think that SU would be another great "DMB" album if Batson stayed away like he should of. But for some reason they like him.
Also, people have been basically bashing Carter's drumming on SU. It is way not Carter like but still. I personally believe that Carter likes Batson and SU so much because he doesnt have to be playing nearly as much as he normally does, I would imagine he would get tired, and its like a rest for him during a show. Or maybe I'm just really dumb

A musician like Carter would never take a drastic drop in style like this. I wanna say that the drum-loop style came from other influences (i.e. batson, stefan). Even on Everyday Carter's "producer-directed" drumming (i say that b/c of the musical sheets in the studio) had his style and technique though it wasnt nearly up to par as almost anything else he has ever done). Carter is a world class drummer he wouldn't need a break and play shitty tunes.philtheman wrote:I only have on concern and his name is Mark.

And I hope the group have recognized the mistake of pushing carter out of the tunes (their worst albums, everyday and SU...carter's worst BY FAR). Let him do his thing and this album will fine with me. He is the base foundation of the "dmb sound". Put him back on in his old form and I personally garuntee you a much improved album, possilbly a Busted Stuff calibur album.
EDIT: thats about all I'm gonna say on the new album until its released cuz to me, it all depends on that. This new producer is in a much more musician-friendly field, so I hope he really takes control and tells batson to get him coffee, then carter and dmb will be back
