I may be totally wrong though, but im sure the song is about Dave and an ex-girlfriend? He often refers to it as a love song. Mmaybe when he wrote it where the inspiration occured was on the day of Halloween.

Whatever, i friggin love this song. Wish it was played more. Halloween > Last Stop IMO.
