First DMB Archive Ever: Uncovered
From the Almanac:
DMBAlmanac staffmember and research extraordinaire, Henry Hart, was recently successful in coordinating an effort with the University of Vermont to recover the lost archives of the first ever dmb mailing list on the internet, known as the "Minarets" list. This mailing list was the precurser to the original Nancies mailing list and ran from October 1993 to May 1995.
Not only will these archives provide an in-depth look at the early days of DMB and their fanbase, but they will also serve as a gold mine of information about shows during this era. After only half a day, we are already beginning to discover large amounts of previously unknown or incorrect setlists as well as stories that shed light on the importance of certain shows (for example, check out 7.17.94).
Our staff will be working around the clock to collect show information from the archives. After all such information is incorporated, the archives will be made public.

Minarets Archive Download added on 9.1.2006
Henry Hart started this project in 2001/2002 by trying to find websites with any Minarets digests. After finding only four from the first week of November 1994, he decided to contact the original host of the digest, UVM.edu in search of a backup copy in their archives. In September of 2003 a response came from their tech department stating that their system had been updated at least five times since that time period and that nothing would be recoverable without a court order or financial backing. This past June, Henry tried it again and got a response from the Chief Information Officer (David Todd) of UVM stating that they would look into it. One month later, the good news came in the form of a MASSIVE .txt file with every Minarets post.
The DMBAlmanac staff have completed their exhaustive survey of the historical backup of the Minarets Archive and have updated the DMBAlmanac database with all information from reliable sources.
