Monkey Man

Unread post by Paco » Sat May 13, 2006 3:20 pm

So I was just listening to some albums, LWS came along, and for the first time ever I sat down and listened to Monkey Man.

That song rocks! Why didn't they ever do a proper release of it anyways!? Hasn't ever been played live either and I don't think this song deserves to be ditched...?!

Great song and it rings in your head for the rest of the day with that catchy sound to it.
"It was cold in the kitchen and the lights were low as winter slowly stumbled home, the air felt different and it started to show as every breath resembled smoke, i was short of opinions and i wanted to know if i'd see your face tomorrow,
'cuz it was cold in the kitchen and the lights were low as winter wrapped around CHICAGO"-UM

I've said it before, but yea, this and JTR are my favorite Lillywhite Sessions songs... figures they didn't release them. Monkey Man's rhythm is realllly hard to keep, I still can't get it. The chorus is easy, but the verse is pretty tough. Anyone able to play it?

The song has a bit of a chilling quality to it.
Forget about the reasons and the treasons we are seeking
Forget about the notion that our emotions can be swept away, kept at bay
Forget about being guilty, we are innocent instead
For soon we will all find our lives swept away

Yeah its not that bad, it just takes some practice. I got a video of me playing it in my thread in the other forum.

Yeh, I'll never understand what was going through their heads for not putting JTR and Monkey Man on Busted Stuff ... especially JTR. What a magnificent song.

agreed ... damn it's shame that songs like these will only be appreciated by the hardcore fans and not the casual ones. You know, the ones screaming "Play Crash!!!" and "Two Step!!" at the shows. At least we'll always have lillywhite

Monkey man is a damn good song, catchy with a very clear message that we would all do well to take notice of. Not that i do i'm not some sort of hippy.
