Misinterpreted Lyrics

Unread post by jsgksu » Sun May 11, 2003 7:46 pm

I saw this a while ago on Nancies and thought some of the responses were really funny so here goes: What are some DMB lyrics that you thought you knew only to find out you were singing them wrong. The one I can remember for me was from Warehouse when he says "Wreckless mind dont throw away your playful beginning" I thought he said "Buisness man dont throw away your playful beginning" for the longest time, sang it for years then I finally found out a while ago. So anyone wanna share your stupidity, just go ahead and post the right lyrics and the lyrics youd been singing until you learned the right ones.

I still don't sing most of them right...I just pick words that sound close and I get by

This isn't me, but my brother for a long time would sing "Eat, drink and be merry, for tomorrow and I..." on Billies. I can't blame him because on the album version it almost sounds like that...
I can't believe that we would lie in our graves wondering if we had spent our living days well, and I can't believe that we would lie in our graves dreaming of things that we might have been...

all that basically sums up what I day when I am just playing and singing along or whatever. Dave tends to, not mutter, but not speak as clearly as someone possible could  . So some of the time you just have to wing it.

in Dancing Nancies i thought it was "turn, turn...we almost failed at living"

the best mis-heard i can think of though is "Drive in Drive out on Ebay"
"Forget about what you are escaping from," he said, quoting an old maxim of Kornblum's. "Reserve your anxiety for what you are escaping to."

anyone notice how even though dave mumbles incoherently, the fans understand pretty much every word? i was listening to YNK in my car and telling my mom how good the lyrics were, and she's like "i can't understand a single word he is saying." a lot of non dmb fans are like that...
