dmb is giving their fans a special opportunity for '06

the dave matthews band is doing something really cool that more bands should do: they are taking fan input through a survey on their official website for opening act suggestions...

now since i'm a huge fan of the dmb and in a band that's starting to pick up a bit of steam when i saw the survey regarding this on their website i thought to myself, "how cool would it be to open for dave matthews?" now idk if we'd ever be able to get selected for such an honor but i figured it couldnt hurt to try... you don't get anywhere without trying... so i have been looking for as many people as i can to convince them to vote for us and so far i've been decently successful (i figure i've gotten about 50 votes so far)... now it occured to me to look to the most important place for votes... a dmb fan forum... so i'm here to ask for your votes...

now i wouldnt just want to make you vote for something that you didnt know what you were voting for... so let me tell you a bit about my band... we are a band of college freshmen (we formed over 2 years ago in high school) called 'iN TRANSiT'... we play a rock/blues style of music... mostly we've done covers but lately have been doing a lot of writing and are looking to start becoming more of our own band... we have one original song that has been praised very highly titled 'streets of sorrow' as well as a handful of other originals plus many many more in the works... you can check us out at http://www.myspace.com/intransitwashingtonville for a full biography, and you can listen to 3 live covers and the previously mentioned 'streets of sorrow'.

we would love for the absolutely amazing opportunity to open for such a kick ass band but we can't do it with out the help of the fans. so, if you check us out and think we could do it i ask you to fill out the survey and put in: iN TRANSiT. if you dont like us thats ok too, fill out the survey with someone else... we thank anyone that helps us out and appreciate it very much.

you can find the survey here: http://www.davematthewsband.com/surveys ... Survey.asp

thanks again!
peace, love, and music,
brian - lead guitarist

i like your enthusiasm. but i think the only way you're going to even have a remote shot is if you have mostly all originals.

i'll give you a listen though

if i may make a few suggestions... Realistically speaking guys, you are nowhere near ready to open for someone like Dave Matthews Band. I'm not saying this to be an ass, I'm trying to be as honest as possible. Your streets of sorrow song wasnt too bad, but there is still alot i think you can do with it, and plus from looking it is one of the only originals you have done. Doing covers and stuff is fun and it's great to do a cover show at a bar or something, but in the big leagues like the DMB, mostly cover songs are not going to cut it. Give yourself a year or so, write some more stuff, and really hash out the stuff you have done. I write alot of stuff too and it has taken me a year to finally get 1 song to sound good to me, and there is still alot i can do with it. You guys have been together for a few years so I'm sure you have come a long way as a band, but I don't think it is realistic to say that you guys are there yet. Look at some of the guys that have opened for DMB and other bands in the past. For the most part they have been around for a number of years and even have a few studio releases under their belt that are all original stuff. Like I said, don't take this the wrong way, I'm not saying you guys suck or anything, I'm just saying you are not quite in that place yet and you are going to have to work for it like everyone else or be in the right place at the right time or some other stretch of luck. Keep up the work guys and get some original stuff hacked out and then see how it goes. Good Luck.

cant blame him for not trying ...but why should your band get it? what is so special about you guys? dmb has played together for over 15 years so have some of the other opening acts..your band has only been around for two...im not voting ..but good effort tho..it was worth a shot.
