Losing interest

There once was a time. I time of about 4 years where I lilstened to nothing but DMB, like no other music mattered. I no longer do that. In fact, I no longer listen to DMB AT ALL. Its weird it seems like Ive almost grown out of them. Anyone else going through this?

ah yes, through time every dmb fan hits this point. I remember when drop-dmb decided to move on.
I too hit this point once but then i started thinking about how many years dmb has been playin and realized that they haven't sold out and they are still busting their asses to entertain us(and make some cash on the side).
Everyone gets burnt out on whatever they've been doing(listening too) sometime.
As long as you take something from it, appreciate the talent and time spent and what you've learned. I did the same thing with smashing pumpkins, counting crows and radiohead in the past. I still listen to them ofcourse, only with moderation. I hope i never lose my love for dmb, i'm pretty planted in the're music.
But, if you stop listening to dmb please don't become one of those "I'm tired of dmb" posting people. They get hell of annoying

Eh, I've listened to DMB for a solid 10 years and I can't say I'm sick of them. Yea, I listen to them more than any other band, but the music is still there, so intriguing. I listen to a lot of other stuff (Ben Harper, RHCP, Jack Johnson, Tupac, Creedence, etc.) but I always find that Dave captivates my mind a lot more and it's him I owe my guitar playing too so... It's not getting burnt out, it's just over using it. Put something else in for a few days, then come back, don't fall into a trap and only listen to DMB because like everything, they can get old, if you let them.

i pretty much listened to only dmb for about 5 years

now i listen to about 90% DMB

it ocasionally gets old. sometimes i get sick of it, sometimes i even get sick of playing DMB on guitar (rarely, but every now and then)

i try to swap it up by listening to some of my live shows i havn't gotten around to yet

any time i start to get sick of DMB, they release another CD (live or studio) and i'm refreshed for a while.

but it's inevitabley going to happen over and over again. i just take a quick break from them and i always come back.

Since he is the soul reason for me picking up a guitar, I dont think I'll get to the point of not listening to them. Not that I can ever get away anyway. Once I pick up a guitar, I hear Dave. Since he was the one I wanted to be for so long, its just natural for me to look at through "his eyes".

I'm in the same boat Kahn, I hardly ever listen to or play any dmb anymore. I find myself forgetting how to play most of their songs, whereas before I could play probably 95% of their catalogue.

theres been a lot of that lately

for me. i went through some time where I just need to lay off it for a while but then I'll listen to a song or verison I haven't heard in a while and takes me right back in, its great. Plus for me, I am going to see them in 2 weeks for the first time so my love for the band is actually about to peak :D

I had a big dmb only phase.... but now i've moved on to other things in addition to them... i'll still definitly attend at least 1 concert a tour though. stand up hasn't helped keep my interest in the band either.

Right now I listen to about 50% Keller, 25% Umph, 10% Phish, 10% Panic, and 5% DMB.

It just seems like all the other bands have a lot of new music for me, and Ive tired out DMB's catalogue.

Les Claypool is the new Dave Matthews for me. DMB is still one of my favorite bands, just less actively.

I sometimes find myself skipping passed a DMB song. I prefer listening to D&T more now

We need something that's both new AND good. When you know every note of a song, it gets redundant.

Its taken me 11 years to finally expand my horizons to listen and keep listening to some new stuff. Before I would go on very short breaks and check out a different band here and there and then forget about them and go back to listening to DMB. This past year, when Stand Up came out, everything changed for me. I can only listen to the older material so much before there comes a time when they need to produce something new AND good like GSR said. It seems now when I listen to BTCS or the LWS it just makes me sad because it is becoming ever more apparent with each tour and album that they are never going to get back to that sound and if the next album is as much of a disappointment as SU then thats it for me seeing them in concert and staying up to date with all that goes on with them.

Oh most defin. brother. I love music and DMB was a big band for me for many years but not my "only" band.

The recordings, especially SU (listened to twice in it's entirety) bummed me out and I just lost interest-there was no spark.

Only time will tell. But it happens to us all.
