ok, ive always wonderd about this song....
jtr (used to be john the revelator.)

its listed in the covers section saying originally performed by Blind Willie Johnson.
that tab is the same but with out the jams.
the lyrics are very simalar to each other, with out the john the rev bit
so to what extent is this a dave song?
is it kind of like long black veil, a common song played in a new way>?
its bugged me a little while.
any info greatly recived.
also if some one wanted to post an early version of the song......... i dont think anyone would get to angry :thumbsup:

It was written during the Supernatural sessions (santana's album). They wrote it along with Love Of My Life. While playing the song, santana starts singing the chorus to an old blues song, John the Revelator. Dave and Carter loved it, and put it in there. Love Of My Life, though, was chosen for the album, and John the Revelator was shelved.

Then, Dave and Tim brought it out and started playing it during D&T shows (santana showing up once, I believe). When the band took it into the studio, they got rid of those lyrics, and shortened the name to JTR.

I think that's how it went. If I am wrong, please correct me.

awsome. thanks for info.
i much prefer jtr to love of my life, but i quess it was santanas album and so they chose songs that make him shine and not his guests.
could anyone yousend a d and t jtr.............if santana were there also then it would be emense
