I understand what you are saying and I totally agree. A studio album consisting of new material co-written by dave and tim, performed d&t style with 2 guitars and tim's effects....... I am creaming my pants thinking about it!

I think someof the reasons why Dave and Tim are so amazing live is because of the intimate enviornment, smaller venues, the ability to hear and see their hands, which notes, etc. and Dave talks to the crowd and you can hear him.

A recorded studio album would be cool, but I believe the magic of the live experience is what makes this duo so amazing, you would lose that on recording.

very true..... But I still would love to hear what the two of them could write together. Do you guys know of any songs just dave and tim wrote? I'm sure tim had some input on some devil but the older stuff? A good comprimise would be for the 2 of them to write a bunch of new material and tour, although everyone would be screaming for classics and it would take away from the new stuff.

I'm pretty sure this was called "Under the Table and Dreaming" and "Crash." :) At least the guitar part...Dave has stated a couple times that Tim had a really heavy hand in terms of composition early on.

Some argue that all along Tim has been Dave's muse and teacher.

Some say Tim is the devil himself  and Dave sold his soul to him.

I never realized tim was that integral in the writing process. I mean, there are copyrights for david j. and there are ones with the whole band listed but I have never seen a david j. and timothy copyright. Now, I have not gone back and checked all the cd's, I am just going from memory here. But if tim co-wrote a song wouldn't his name appear in the copyrights? Just a thought.

he doesn't really take a lot of recognition for a lot of his work (except for his solo stuff). he tends to stay out of being famous. just who he is

i remember a while back someone joking that tim actually wrote all the spiffy dave riffs like billies, wwys, the stone, etc. and gave them to dave...

i dont believe it but i thought it was an interesting thought...
