Dmb has not peaked

Unread post by musicalman865 » Thu Jun 09, 2005 3:15 pm

yea i know that many people believe btcs is dmbs best album and that they peaked at that point, and don't get me wrong I love it and listen to it more times than i can count, hell im listening to rapunzel right now. But I'm sorry (and technically speaking) theres no such thing as peaking and they did not peak there. I mean just because we mostly are guitarist who study dmbs music doesn't make us any more of a fan than a diehard fan who loves Everyday or Stand up. I think that they (the guys themselves) determine whether they have peaked and just don't have it in em anymore, and as far as I'm concerned they love their new music, they think they still got it in em and I'm with em 100%. Another example is look at the career of the Beatles. "Musical Evolution," to me thats what makes a great band.

Peace,
Mike

I think they peaked in December of 1998.

Most likely due to the release of 12-8-98, its such a great live album.

I think they peaked with the 2000 tour and the LWS. You could argue that those songs in a finished state produced by Lillywhite would have been on par, if not better than anything on BTCS.

as long as they keep producing decent albums, I'm fine with that
BTCS was different, but over time, you gotta go somewhere different with yourr music
think I heard that somewhere

Yeah, I'm not going to be fine with them continuting to produce sub-par albums (SU, ED). I've kinda just looked the other way on these. I know they still have it in them to create some more classic DMB tunes. Its all a matter of them hiring the right producer who, 1.) Won't be in awe and thanking god that they actually have an opportunity to work with them. and 2.) Will actually push them and won't settle for half-assed work.

Lanois would be a great choice, hopefully it happens on the next one.

the difference here is that the Beatles made BETTER music as the years went on

No. They peaked. Anyone who says they'd rather see one of today's shows than a 1998 show is just wrong and deaf.

I don't know. Now that I think about it. If I had to choose a year to see a show from I'd pick '03. Resurfacing of a lot of older songs, some sweet improv jams, D&T, Central Park......
