DMB on the Radio in your City---?

Unread post by DropD-MB » Thu Apr 03, 2003 11:49 am

Hey All,
Here is a question I would like to ask ya'll. Do you feel where you live that DMB is played on the radio enough/Too Much? Would you rather not hear DMB on the radio? (because you don't want more people listening to him than there already are--Which makes for tougher tickets around tour time)

Anyway, when I lived in PA they never played DMB. Still they don't play them. Maybe you can hear them 1 time a month (Satellite or WWYS).

I have been living in VA for the past 4 years and they(The Coast) play him constantly..Whats cool is that they play a lot of live stuff too. But they also play live John Mayer & Jason Mraz as well as Carbon Leaf and other great bands.

Just wanted your opinions..

I don't listen to the radio, I listen to CD's

But I would say I want Dave to gain popularity... but I don't want an influx of teeny-bopper fans or annoying ones at D+T shows that have no idea how to behave in a civil manner.

Seems kinda like a Catch-22 to me.

In the Bay Area of Cal. I don't think they play him enough, only every once and awhile. One station always plays Crush when they play DMB and then its the radio edit which blows. And another station plays stuff off Everyday once in a blue moon.....soooo, not enough Dave for me, thats why the radio sucks!

Radio in South Florida sucks big time! Most of the radio stations down here are owned by either Pax Communications or Clear Channel Communications. This means there's only one rock station, one rap station, one country station etc... They do not want to compete with themselves. Radio play is dictated by the corporate offices. So every time I turn the radio on I hear Britney or N'sync or Eminem or Gloria Estefan (you know Miami, Cubans). Anyway, 90% of the time I'm driving I'm listening to a DMB CD. The rest of the time I listen to news or the morning shows, which can be funny at times when you're stuck in traffic.

the radio is the devil. too much of everything else, not enough dave. true, i dont want dave overload but a nice dave through back now and then would be great. i cannot find a station w/ dave-ish music. basically anything w/ acoustic guitar cannot be found. sigh.

It seems acoustic guitar is a lost art by the recording industry. If it's not somebody clawing at an electric with high distortion, they don't seem to like it.

Yeah I still listen to the Radio & am NOT ashamed because If you read the first post...The station I listen to which is a mainstream station that plays all sorts of live and acoustic music. Hell, they were playing 3 x 5 on the radio last January and "No such thing" wasn't even released yet to the mass audience. They were playing Grey Street last summer too. I love my radio station......Ask Jseymour or TaylorDB. They both live here at the beach.

Its true. The Coast has always been at the forefront. We are very fortunate here at the beach. It reminds me a little bit of the old (in old I mean 1970's early 80's) WHFS in Bethesda, MD which was THE mother of all progressive radio....they would have been playing DMB back when they were playing at Trax.

Shit, KFOG will play him more often than that. Live from the archives will play some good live shit of DMB's every now and then. Not that I'm from NorCal (thank god. ) but I'm up there every now and again. As far as LA/the CA central coast, they really dont play any dmb. Maybe here and there, but not really.
