Agreed that Light Lift Me Up is a sweet song.

I don't like the remix, at least not a lot of it. The idea is great, however, it totally ignores the fact that there are different keys, and as the remix tries to sit in a single key, having Dave singing in another key, even if the background is only percussion, totally screws it up. He sounds horribly flat, as you can't get around the previous key. You will always remember the chords/notes/tonality that you have last heard, and as such, even though there are no chords played over Dave's singing on the verses, you still "hear" the chorus chords, and it doesn't sound right. So cool idea, poor execution, IMO. I'd be shocked if that was the final version of the remix if they do use the song in the film.

It pretty much sucked overall. This first verse sounds soooo shitty. Like Tico said, the song has two different keys being played at the same time and it really fucks it up. Some parts sounded kinda cool, but most just outright sucked.

yeah, i agree that it doesnt sound that great, if the beginning was in the same key as well as some other parts, it wouldnt be so bad

anyways, i just put up some more mp3s, check 'em out. the jams on there are really cool. 05-Jam.mp3 i think has the flecktones on it, i cant remember. the exodus jam is really cool too.

I wonder what people who have never heard the studio version will think of it...because i think we're all getting messed up by knowing how the song usually sounds. I don't expect that anyone on these boards hasn't heard the original so i guess we'll have to wait to ask non dave fans after they see the movie. (which by the way i can't wait for, matrix rules!!)

The chorus sounds excellent. The verses and breakdown (floating in the empty...) sound horrible, due to the tonal distractions mentioned by others.

It needs some serious work before I'd call it good (and FWIW, I love the original).

Chorus- killer stuff... verse... waht was PO thinking he makes the most compelling techno in the world and he couldnt raise the pitch a few step on the verse (which I might add just takes the bush of a button)

somewhat unusual to think that a dave song (even if remixed) would be put on the soundtrack for a sequal of a movie that had songs by bands like powerman 5000 (who i hate by the way) on it.

I like it, pretty much for the reason that I think it will fit the movie beautifully. Hell, fix the whole key thing in the verse and I'd dare to say I enjoyed it.
