OK. Im a huge dave fan. But i can't figure it out. Busted StufF. > i believe it is the same as the lillywhite sessions??????????? am i correct,/ if not where can i buy it, and other bootleg cd's of daves??

its not entirely the same, there are some different songs, like JTR, Monkey Man and Sweet Up and Down, none of which made it to Busted Stuff, along with Kit Kat Jam w/ lyrics, i can send you the Lillywhite Sessions if you want.

How big of a Dave fan are you? Anyone and Everyone who is a Dave fan knows that Busted Stuff is basicly the same thing as the so called "Lillywhite sessions". It was by far the biggest Dave bootleg at the time of its release on the internaet. As far as buying Dave bootlegs I would have no idea where to tell you to go, I just download all the bootleg shows I can off the internet.

Totally an uncalled for response.....He might love DMB, yet not be the same kind of fan you are. He may also have gotten into DMB after that whole thing....regardless, not called for....either help him out or don't reply

As for your question. Here's the short story....Before the summer of 2000, DMB went into the studio to record a new album. The sessions were put on hold to go on that tour...where they debuted a bunch of new songs they were recording for the album. After that tour, Dave flew out to LA to meet Glen Ballard and they wrote the album Everyday. The previous album was scrapped and they went with Everyday. Shortly after, the recording sessions that were scrapped were leaked onto the Internet and dubbted "The Lillywhite Sessions". The next year, DMB re-recorded a bunch of the songs from "The Lillywhite Sessions" and a few new ones(Where Are You Going & You Never Know). This was released as Busted Stuff. As for other bootlegs...that is really one of the very few true bootlegs. This is because DMB allows audio taping of all it's shows so you can freely download/trade their live concerts. I personally think Busted Stuff sucks. JTR and SUAD are the greatest songs on The Lillywhite Sessions and they don't even get put on Busted Stuff... I personally believe that Busted Stuff was some crazy nazi producer or record executives way of making an extra buck off of Dave... becuz we all know that Busted Stuff isn't about the music like everything else is... It's simply a money making tool... It's a damn shame when someone uses their power to put a Dave album on the same level as Britnney fucking Spears and NSYC.

I CAN'T disagree with you more. I think that Busted Stuff was one of Dave's best album's yet, and it was a relief once released because I think a lot of us DMB fans out there were waiting for many of the song's on Lillywhite to be finalized with a polished touch. Thus, came Busted, and I loved it! And as far as the album being a money making tool and to say its on the same level as Britnney and NSYC (of whom I dispise), is insulting to every DMB fan.

Ok I downloaded a version of Grey street and it said it was from Busted Stuff now Ive had the LWS for about a year but this "polished version" was total crap it was too fast and all the notes seemed really staccato and the violin almost had a "Zelda" type sound to it... Is this the version that appears on Busted Stuff?

The versions from Busted Stuff do sound more "polished"; part of that is simply due to the fact that the songs were completely produced and you're not listening to a poorly encoded rip.

All that being said, I believe there was a radio cut of Grey Street which was sped up quite a bit. I'd bet that you downloaded that version.

I'm still interested as to what info you have that BS was only about money, and not music.

I'm just saying I don't personally believe that Dave and the Boys got their way with that album... I really feel that there was more they wanted to do. JTR is a concert favorite and why the hell wouldn't that be on the album... also... I believe Sweet Up and Down is the best dave song ever.. you may disagree but thats just my opinion... I really feel that SUAD is an album worthy song and it should have appeared on Busted Stuff... i just don't believe that this album was the exact musically representation of the guys...

That's understandable. I do agree that RCA exerted more and more pressure over their recordings as time wore on, and I was disappointed at JTR's exclusion from Busted Stuff. There was a quote from the producer, Steve Harris (who had been a sound engineer on some of the previous albums) that they played JTR once in the studio, but the band wasn't really feeling it.

SUAD, while a good song, isn't as high on my list as it is on yours. However, I would be cautious in asserting that Busted Stuff isn't a proper musical representation due to a song I liked being eliminated from the track list. I don't think there's really any reason why RCA would have pressured them to eliminate that song. That's just me though.

i think that by now money is the least of the band's problems (if ya catch my drift), and as dave and the rest of the band have stated many a time, they're doing this to have fun. when it stops being fun, they'll stop doing it. i'm sorry that you didn't appreciate bs. most dave fans did, but dmb can't cater to every single fan's tastes. oh well, my two cents

jtr debate

i read somewhere that dave actually asked to hold jtr off until the next album and that santana will guest in it. don't ask me where i read it, but it did state explicitly that jtr would be on the next studio.

i liked busted stuff. im not sure if i liked lws more, but both are good. i think jtr and suad are both good songs, but if you have lws why whine about them not being on bs?

I would just have liked to hear both of them with full studio production... and I'll be the first to say that Santana is THE MAN but look what happened last time he was on a Dave album... and I don't think that the record company told the band not to put SUAD on the album but I think there was just to much corporate involment in the whole album... I mean I had LWS about a year before BS comes out and then its on store shelfs and my two favorite songs on the LWS don't even appear on BS... I was pissed.

i really like lillywhite because it's pure emotion and raw feelings hitting you in those songs, you can really feel dave when you listen to the songs. and because it's an unfinished, unpolished work, i also like busted stuff at times. it all depends on what mood i'm in. the band had to finish those songs though. it was either polish them up and release a finalized version of them, or abandon them completely, and they weren't about to do that. believe me, if dmb wanted suad, jtr or monkey man on busted stuff, it would've been on there. dmb doesnt take shit from rca because they've never liked their treatment and contract.
