Dave the best singer/songwriter in acoustic guitar music?

Unread post by borocks » Sun Mar 02, 2003 2:46 pm

I just want to know whether somebody knows an acoustic guitarist/singer who plays and sings as well as Dave.
I think Dave is really the best. He's a talented singer and plays so greatly and in very diverse techniques.
My second favourite is Bob Dylan, but he's not as good from the point of view of the guitar skills. And Dashboard Confessional isn't really compareable to Dave.

What do you think???????????'

Random movie quote to make you seem hip and "with it": I'm thinking about getting metal legs. It's a risky operation, but it'll be worth it.

i would say in terms of creativity in his playing, lyrics, singing, and general sound, that he is the best. i know there are better guitar players out there, better singers two, but the combo of daves ability is really an amazing thing. its hard to compare musicians especially when one is dave, but he is my favorite for many reasons.

yes bob dylan was an innovator, and his lyrics ar extremely poetic and have so much to say, etc....but I still can't get past his annoying-ass voice...I don't know if anyone's ever heard of the Traveling Wilburies (Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Tom Petty, Roy Orbison, & Some Other Guy), but every song hes sings, I have to skip....It's just too damn annoying...

ok...i feel better

yeah, i remember always hearing about bob dylon when i was younger (10 years ago...) and i finally saw him perform on some show i was SO dissappointed. his music and lyrics are cool but does he TRY to sound bad. his son (wallflowers guy) has his kinda voice but he doesnt sound bad at all.

I could prolly go through life listening to nothing but these artists:

Dave Matthews
Gordon Lightfoot
John Prine
Bob Dylan
Stan Rogers

They are my ultimate top 5 singer/songwriters of all time.
good, and you?
