DMB's greatest...

Unread post by i like tictacs » Mon Apr 12, 2004 4:46 pm

If you were to put the best songs (in your opinion) performed on any official release(studio or live release) onto one 80 minute CD, what would they be? I'm looking for opinions, and trying to make something that has good quality sound and good songs/etc.

totally gotta have ants, make sure its live, i really love it from RR
BOWA - again, RR is good
Two Step - live, newer versions, maybe from LS
crush - BTCS
billies from RR if you want it official, i'd go with storytellers though
JTR from folsom field if you like the ladies

i could go on and on, and i suggest you don't do this, i've tried, so have a bunch of people, and before some devil came out, and before i heard all of the live stuff, i had a 4 CD, 44 song list

if you're still gonna do it, good luck

Yep, I've tried it as well, and I couldn't come close to doing it. I would get to about 70 minutes and would be like, "I want to put 5 more on here." But I couldn't, and that's why I have a computer, and a viser in my car to switch them when needed ;-) But good luck with that man!

Definitely jimi from CP.

no kidding... if youre gonna burn up a lot of time from a live release, it had better be Two Step from Listener Supported or Seek Up from Red Rocks

i've got an insane dmb mix on my ipod, its got like 30 of their best live/studio stuff imo. to name a few ive got:

#41 (this version i downloaded with bela fleck + the flecktones)
Two Step--->Ants Marching (ff)
Captain (bs)
Everyday (cp bonus disc)
Last Stop (cp bonus disc)
So Much To Say--->Too Much (LiC)
Pig (btcs)
Dancing Nancies--->Warehouse (cp)

i've got all sorts of stuff on there, but i think the last stop from the cp bonus disc is a must

I'd recommend the L@LC version of Warehouse. I've long touted that version as the best and I still think it it is superior to all others. But If you want the best live band version, I'd say LS because I can't stand the whoos. At the actual concert they're cool but not on a CD.
Granny from LS is a classic. Best version of the song and the best DMB song with the lovely ladies.

The best covers are, hands down, The maker/LiC and Cortez the Killer/CP.
