I know it isn't his style but I wish dave would pull more little accoustic solos. Often he plays little riffs in the backround but he should play out once in a while. That would be cool.

i dont think he's confident enough in his playing to do so, he's just not a soloist

Yeah I understand that and I would be really nervous if I was him to, because he is a rhythm guitar player, but his licks are still pretty damn cool.

soloing is damn hard. I play electric, but I suck at soloing. To be a really good soloist you really have to know what you're doing. I just sort of fling my fingers around as fast I can. I mean it sounds alright, but it sounds like shit when all I'm doing is pentatonic scales and shit.

Scales Isaac. Scales and theory. Drill it into your head, solo over basic chords....hmm I should really try this :-D

Listen to solos. Listen to jazz, listen to tons of solos. Get to the point where you are able to write them out. Recognize phrases, breaks, and riffs. Then you can be satisfied.

Well heres a list of things to start out with if you wanna become good at soloing:

1. Scales
2. Scales
3. Scales

Once you know those 3 steps you are on your way to soloing and then you learn phrasing and shit like that, but scales are first priority of soling

:) :)

Any good places where you can learn different solo scales online?
Forget about the reasons and the treasons we are seeking
Forget about the notion that our emotions can be swept away, kept at bay
Forget about being guilty, we are innocent instead
For soon we will all find our lives swept away

If you like the Allman Brothers try finding the solo to Jessica. It's not that hard, but it's really good practice. The lead guitar basically solos in the backround the whole time. Here's the link:
