I'm afraid I'm going to have to disagree with Gianni (gasp). I *love* this song. The mandolin doesn't bother me; there's probably a way to use another instrument to make it sound better, but just because it was used on Stand Up doesn't make me hate it, which tells me that I really do hate Stand Up for the music and lyrics, not because I'm on a bandwagon. I don't even mind Dave's electric. The song'd probably be killer acoustic, but I like it electric too, so whatev. Horns are great. Definitely my favorite of the new songs so far. And Shotgun owns on Kill the King (only the chorus of Kill the King is any good).

The song is nice and has a lot of potential.

The bandolin sounds a little strange at the beginning, but then it gets better.

Thanks for the song!

Its not a terrible song, its average. The verses are boring as hell and just plod along, the lyrics quite frankly suck...pure cheese I hope he changes them, the choruses are alright and the outro is pretty good. I'm just worried that this was supposed to be their song that blows us all away and it definitely is not doing that to me.

I think shotgun is a lot better song than Kill the King, I can't stand that song
Im other way round. I thought this was ok, but i really like Kill The King, one of my favorites so far.
Yeh, everybody has their own thing. I'm sure Kill the King will grow on me, maybe after they tweek it a little bit, but I'm really loving Idea of You and shotgun. Especially Idea of You, that song gets stuck in your head like crazy. If it's on their new album I definitely see it being their first single.

I think they believe that Idea of You is the best new one that they have, seeing how they debuted it before the others (besides sister). To be honest, Idea of You, in my opinion, has been better than anything I've heard them put out in a couple of years, despite some songs that they played a few years ago like "Good Good Time" etc.

I love Idea of You, it actually sounds like a DMB song, this one is a little bit too jam band sounding for me kinda sounds like something OAR would do.

No I am saying TIOY is greater than Break Free. Break Free is greater than Kill the King. Kill the King and Shotgun are equal....

yeh, that's how I took it when you said it. I haven't gotten a chance to listen to the good version of break free, but from what I heard of the first version upped by gianni this morning, it sounds pretty good. You're not a big fan of Shotgun, brian?

alright. just listened. this one's gonna get a thumbs down.

boooooorrrriiiiiiinnnnnnggggggg

but the end jam was nice. i loved the trumpet part. awesome. but i really don't like dave's part...or the lyrics. basically everything up until the end was boring. don't know how much they can do with it for me since i don't like the riff or even the vibe of the verses.

I believe these will turn out to be solid songs. I mean, in the past the early versions of songs were quite rough and progressed to classic DMB tunes. These are to be the foundation of these tunes and I feel progress to very solid tunes. Dave lyrics have been lacking since busted stuff, hopefully some of these will be tweaked lyrically but all in all I love what im hearing and seems the band will be drifting from the SU sound
