ive seen him quoted to using pot, he drinks obviously, aparently its gone around a story from trey or dave, or someone else that they did some hits of cocaine after a phish show once. nothing about heroine, i doubt it, some say rhyme or reason was about his use, but i go with that it was for a friend.

I remember an interview where he said he writes most of his songs while drunk, and obviously some of his songs have lots of drug references. I don't think he does that stuff as much now though.

Well, dave could have had his moments, I mean, everybody in the industry does! And he always seems drunk, i suppose it's the role he puts up in the shows, perhaps to be more uninterested and loose.

But REALLY, heroin??? cocaine???? That's a one way track guys, i really don't know. No one ever really comes back from all that.

Yeah dude, LSD is acid. No idea why some people think its so bad to not know a drug's name.

And its not a "one way track". Read any objective psychology essay/study on the subject. Most of the effects of these drugs (specially withdrawal ones) are hideously exagerated by political influence rather than actual scientific research. I'm not saying they're good for you, I'm just saying they're not as bad as they make them out to be.

OH well, knowing it's LSD an "acid trip" makes a lot more sense now (i thought the acid was some sort of magic carpet or something, although you might as well as see one while on LSD.)

Well, my father is a farmaceutologist (sp?? Farmaceutico) he studied heroin and cocaine in college (in very small amounts they have actually positive things, did you know that?), and the effects are dissastrous.

Thats why people do them Ibogaine for example is a strong psychedelic used by some african tribes that has also been used, ironically, as an effective treatment to stop opiate addiction on its tracks. But the classic image of the drug addict banging his head against the wall in a pool of bloody sweat and piss, going through withdrawal, is quite exagerated. It is very rare to see cases like that. Most people go through detox with little more than mild discomfort (Comparable to having the flu even)

In an interview in Rolling Stone a while back about the Stand Up sessions, the journalist comments in the piece that there were joints going around the studio (I believe that Batson was rolling them) and that there was a pitcher of mushroom tea in the refridgerator in the studio. I almost did not believe what I read. I know that Dave smokes pot and I know that he used to trip when he was younger, but being the family man now I thought that his psychonaut days were behind him. Guess not. I've never tripped at a DMB show but I have rolled on ecstasy and it was amazing. I'm nervous about tripping there because of the small percentage of lame fans that might mess things up. Anyone have any interesting experiences with mind-alterning substances at a DMB show?
