I cant believe what was said about two step being butchered on crash. That song is an example of what a good producer can bring to a song, its still my favorite version of two step, fuck the naysayers.

yes but its like this, the band didnt get all excited about this album, daves sayin how it lets him express allot of stuff... the ret is saying how much fun and cool recording this one is.Ranting Thespian wrote:Um, film, no offense, but you obviously didn't read what the band said about the album.filmdude100cms wrote:... also the whole band hated everyday . . .
They said that they didn't feel it was a dmb album. They felt it odd and not as creative as their other albums. Carter also said it wasn't a dmb album, it was a Dave and Glen album, and they made a good album. They never said they didn't like the album, they just didn't feel included, but didn't hate that, it was just a new experience, and they love a good amount of songs from there.

Really? I love two step, it's my favorite dmb song. I think my least favorite version is the Crash one though. I don't, however, blame it on the producer. I think that song was meant to be played live, and any attempt at a produced version of it steals the magic away. Red Rocks or the Cow Palace version are what the song should sound like, imo.eze3484 wrote:I cant believe what was said about two step being butchered on crash. I'll stay away from making judgements about this album till I hear more, but I'm of the opinion that dmb's golden age has come and gone. They never should have ditched Lillywhite.

Im guess im just biased because that Timmy intro on the album is what made me fall in love with DMB, Id love to hear that once in concert. As far as the new album is concerned, the background song was very blah, nothing like the driving sound of the new songs (sans sugar will). But I'll buy it anyway, they have sort of a reputation for not sucking.mbgreen wrote:Really? I love two step, it's my favorite dmb song. I think my least favorite version is the Crash one though. They were in a depressed funk when recording the Busted Stuff songs. Stuff wasn't happening. So they decided they just needed a new start, completely. It wasn't a personal thing against Steve. Listen to the few songs that were polished on the LWS though...they make BS look very uninspired, and I believe that if Lillywhite had finished what they'd started, they would have had another album on par with what they had released before. People forget that depression inspires music just as good as exuberance.i-am-me wrote:you are right. they have passed their prime for sure. why did they leave lillywhite? is there a story there? or they just did?mbgreen wrote:Really? So do a lot of people. I dunno, I would get bored if they used the same producer for every album. Change is good.praisedave wrote:i dont know about this batson fellow, what was wrong with lillywhite?
