It could become lyrically amaizing if Dave put some thought into it. Although it already is...well..you know what i mean.

That would be great, I hope they bring back all the '04 tunes at some point but thats a long shot
I think Hello Again has a good chance of coming back. It made it onto SU, and the band loves that album. Plus it's had a year off.

I wish I knew where they stood on Joy Ride. It was a relief, those few shows where it came back. I hope Crazy-Easy and Sugar Will aren't gone forever. It doesn't seem like they'd do that.. I mean they were pretty complete by the end of '04, nevermind amazing.

So weird..
I will never understand why they scrapped all but one of those songs
Seriously. It annoys me that they write these tunes before the tour, then road test them to see what we think, then scrap them.

Was the fan response to the new tunes in '04 lackluster? I remember that I liked them, but not to the point that I do now.
I just can't believe that they would do that to us again after the LWS/ED debacle, you would think they would have learned something from it.

The fan response was overwhelmingly positive, everybody thought the band was finally back. If they had just stuck to the original plan that year, they would have been right back to where they left off in 2000.

I keep thinking that Idea of You is gonna be the new single in a few months, but then I remember that's what we thought about Joy Ride.

Exactly, you can't assume anything with this band anymore. Who knows what the hell they came up with in the studio in 7 seconds this time that will become the next single.

Mmmm.

Another thing I don't understand, why did they ask Batson back? They know we're pissed at him, and Dave has said that the result with their last session (SU) didn't really live up to their potential. Unless they're really planning to dig up and use the other 28 songs they wrote with him.

They have become very lazy, studio-wise, for one thing and Batson makes the process as simple as humanly possible with his Seinfeld approach to song writing (There's a song! That's a song!!). So with Dave off doing all his acting bullshit and everybody getting older, its very easy to see why they would stick with him instead of going out and getting a producer who will actually push them.

I think it takes the right type of producer with the credentials to actually have the balls to tell the band what to do. I feel a majority of them may feel intimidated to really push the band and tell them what should be scrapped and so on.

I think Dave in particular likes Batson because he's a yes man. And like it's been said, they aren't being pushed like they were with Lillywhite to make some good music.

Exactly, and that is why a lot of the blame for the way things have turned out lately have to fall on the shoulders of the band themselves. They are the ones who showed Lillywhite the door, they are the ones who hired Batson, it is partially their fault.

It's definitely more on the band than on batson.

How much does the band really know about our displeasure with the last album? I mean, since the record sales don't exactly reflect it, since they're are plenty of casual fans who loved it. How do they know how WE feel? I'm sure they know, I was just wondering how.

Record sales were actually pretty bad, so that definitely got the message across and I know that crew members do view the boards, but its nothing like it used to be at the ML when Lillywhite actually posted on a regular basis.
