serious? Wow, i love that song!
I love DMB, and I can definitely sense the changes between albums, but I would consider them one of the least diverse a/o experimental bands I listen to.checkii wrote:I was watching an old interview last night with the band done in Europe I think (its on my soulseek files) and Dave was saying how they never want to stop changing because they never had a set sound they were going for and they always want to keep it new and evolve.
i think that says it all, they just dont want to write another crash or BTCS.
I like Kid A. And I consider Amnesiac to be the most drastic Radiohead change.Jay wrote:lol...oh well. i like the album. thank god for a new direction.
i wonder...are there and radiohead fans here who DON'T like Stand Up?
this kinda reminds me of when Kid A came out, even though this isn't nearly as drastic. half the fans were heartbroken, and the other half loved it.
IMO, It just doesn't do it for me. I do believe I would think better of it if it was not the last song. You just don't end albums with songs so blatently about oral sex and cunnillingus if you are a band like DMB. I think Lousiana Bayou should have been the last song. It would have ended the album with a much more powerful and live feeling.Dale_Milligan wrote:Davy28 wrote:Well, its official, after careful consideration my least favorite is Hunger for the great light.

Thats pretty much how I feel. I can't even listen to it anymore to tell you the truth. It all comes back to the producer. They need somebody who will push them, not like these last 3 who has just been in awe and thanking god that they have got the chance to work with such a talented band (I mean Batson was actually praising Carters ability to always be on the "1", that should give us a little insight into the pieces of garbage he was working with before). I just hope one day they get back with Lillywhite because he never produced anything in the studio that I didn't like.MWR wrote:Interestingly enough the only song I don't have utter disdain for is American Baby. They really alienated their fanbase with this one. I wasn't even expecting much and I was still disappointed.
I think they got seriously lazy with this album. That's why they enjoyed the process so much because it didn't cost them an ounce of blood, sweat, or tears. That's not the DMB I know.
I've missed Lillywhite exponentially after every album since LWS. I didn't think they could choose a shittier producer than
Steve Harris, guess I was wrong.
I agree, Stolen Away is the best example of this, I keep expecting it to go to some beautiful chorus or bridge but it just drags on for 4 minutes of the same melody.jellyfish wrote:IM not really digging the slow songs on this album. That is usually Dave's strong point - He knows how to make a great love song, but Im not hearing it on this album.
That is the only song that could have had potential. But, no.Nitro1515 wrote:I agree, Stolen Away is the best example of this, I keep expecting it to go to some beautiful chorus or bridge but it just drags on for 4 minutes of the same melody.jellyfish wrote:IM not really digging the slow songs on this album.
