You're not wrong.bartrum wrote:I had to go with no on this. Is he a good songwriter? yes. But great, no. I don't think he is anywhere near the top tier of greatest songwriters of all time. He's probably not even in the top five in the last twenty years.

I did vote yes on this one.
I don't think I'd put Dave as being one of the greats of all time, in fact I know I wouldn't. But when I looked at this poll, I was taking a look at alot of the other artists that are still doing alot of music these days. I might be missing out on alot of wonderful artists, this is very possible, but with the sort of stuff the mainstream seems to constantly shove down my throat, I had to vote yes. Compared to alot of the stuff I've heard lately, which is mostly punk-rock or pop/dance music, Dave is a great songrwriter.

I agree with that, i think all these emo bands that are spawning over night suck ass. such as cartel, panic at the disco, say anything, ect.... my friends all listen to this shit and i cant stand it. it all sounds the same and they have such whining voices. if you compare dave to this emo crap that is so popular for some god forsaken reason, he is a god. i think kids even my age and def the younger ages dont appreciate instruments and good music all they listen to is vocals and catchy lyrics. i dont know to many people my age (19) or younger that truly appreciates classic bands and even good music today.[/b]MakoMako wrote:I did vote yes on this one.

Well that just depends on your definition of the word "great" then. Your taking great as "THE greatest," or one of.bartrum wrote:I had to go with no on this. Is he a good songwriter? yes.
