I think he is sweet, but Stef is equally sweet in my book. It would be really cool if they, for whatever reason this wouldn't really make sense musically, brought him to play with stefan and they played back and forth. that would be sweet. :D
pfft. marcus miller in my oppinion is better, because there has been people who've see him do the stuff wooten does. but yet he doesnt fill his albums with it(that and possibly the worst lyrics on earth.) marcus also has his own sound, and also has a better versatilitie with playing with bands, he has alot better grooving ability. he also is a composer which helps him write quite a bit better songs.

also wooten has guested with dmb, it's called live in chicago, there's videos on youtube.
I'm sure Vic could handle himself in almost any band you put him in. He knows just as much as anyone about overplaying, groove, and soloing where it's appropriate. If I was Vic, and I could do what he does, I would fill my solo album with that too, because it'd be MY solo album. His soloing with the Flecktones is much more sparse and his playing is less busy. Vic composes plenty. Read interviews on how he made Soul Circus.

agreed, if you buy a victor wooten album, wouldnt you expect/want to hear him going nuts. the way he fits the mold in the flecktones is perfect. when i picked up a show of hands i didnt want to hear wooten blending in and keeping time, i wanted to hear him go crazy.

it just gets old for me, i want to hear good music i can enjoy listening to for awhile, which is what i get out of marcus, because his songs are still very bass oriented but very jazzy and enjoyable.

Wrong thread to be sucking Marcus' dick.

Also, Wooten is better than Marcus, end of story, you are wrong.

vic's playing is timeless. Big Country, Shanti, Zona Mona, Sinister Minister, At Last We Meet Again, New South Africa. Those are some basslines that are just amazing, and that isn't even scratching the surface.

He knows when to play, how to play, how much to play, how little to play, how he can play, and so on and so forth. He can do whatever he wants. And if I could play like him, I would. I don't think anybody here wouldn't. And like andrew said, if it was my solo album I'd wank a lot too.

Yes, I have read that strumming an open bass string is one of the most difficult techniques to master.
