What are you talking about?? It's totally appropriate to refer to Western culture in the context of Denmark.
I would say your error is in eqating Western culture with the US. The US is a part, admittedly a LARGE, part of Western culture today, but it by no means defines Western culture. It's the other way around: Western culture has defined US culture.

I can't believe that we would lie in our graves wondering if we had spent our living days well, and I can't believe that we would lie in our graves dreaming of things that we might have been...

HAHA! Alcohol is definitely not conduicive to having conversations about Western culture, its roots, and what part the US plays in it.
Actually, now that I think about it, depending on the circles you're in, alcohol can be VERY conducive to intellectual discussions, at least very silly ones.
And yes, I have some Swedish in me. In terms of heritage, my Dad is all Swede, and my Mom is mostly German, with a little Swiss thrown in.

i dont know much about my background, but my grandpa was 100% Fin, and my grandmother was some type of native american. on my dad's side im not sure, i think my great grandfather was german, but maybe i think that because he fought against them in the war

1) Despite my Scandanavian/German heritage, I can get a tan. That comes from...
2) Living in Latin America. Costa Rica to be specific. For 7 1/2 years. I was born in the states though. So, my heritage is all north Europe, I was born in the US, and Latin America is home.
3) And finally, I have no clue if I have any relatives over in Sweden or Germany still. I'm sure there are some 3rd cousins or something, but that doesn't really count as family anymore.
My parents wanted different names for me and my siblings, so I am Hans, then there's Erik (the "k" at the end instead of a "c" is Scandanavian), then comes Ryne (pronounced like the river in Germany), and at the end of the line, my little sister, Annalise.
